  Тема: The Present Perfect Tense

                                                                     Урок

Мета: практикувати у вживанні Present Perfect в мові учнів. Розвивати                         

               навички читання і вміння розуміти речення з дієсловами в

               Present Perfect. Активізувати вживання питальних та заперечних

               речень в Present Perfect.

Обладнання: текст для читання, граматична таблиця.

 

                                              Хід уроку

 

  1 Організаційна частина уроку.

      1 Greeting and aim.

T: Today we are going to learn new grammar The Present Perfect Tense.

     By the end of the lesson you should be able:

      to use The Present Perfect Tense in your speech;

      to ask and answer the questions using The Present Perfect;

      to understand and translate the sentences in Present Perfect;2

                                                          

      2 Warm up.

 

Have You Ever…

    Have you ever been to France?

    No, I have never had a chance

    Have you ever kissed a girl?

    Yes, her name is Sherley Pearl

                           Have you ever bitten dogs?

                           Have you ever eaten frogs?

                           Have you ever met a snake?

                            No, never, for God’s sake

  T: Have you ever bitten dogs?

   P:  No, I haven’t

   T:  Have you ever met a snake?

   P : No, I haven’t ....so on

 

  2 Основна частина уроку.

       1 Presentation. (пояснення вчителя)

T: Запам’ятай! Для вираження дії, що відбулась до теперішнього моменту і пов’язана з ним своїм результатом, після підмета ставиться допоміжне дієслово have (has-для 3-ї особи однини), а за ним – третя форма відмінюваного дієслова.

  She has written a new book.

  I have rung her up today.

                                          S+have not (has not) V3

 She has not (hasn’t) finished her work.

 They have not (haven’t) seen this film.

  Has you friend been to London?

T: Well, and now listen to the illustrative situation.

   The rain has stopped at last. The weather is cold. But it is warm at home.

   My friend Helen has come to see me as we haven’t seen each other since she left for Lviv. Lena hasn’t changed much. She is as cheerful as she was four years ago.

   She has brought me a nice present from Lviv, a book of prints of the Art Gallery. She knows that I’m fond of painting.

    Questions:

-Have you got a friend who lives in another town?

-Has she visited you lately?

-What present has she brought for you?

     2.Grammar Practice.

1) Make the following interrogative and negative:

1. Mary has switched on the light.

2. My relatives has received the parcel

3. Our grandfather has traveled much.

4. The boy has passed all his exams.

5. The little girl has broken the cup.

6.  The director has signed the document.

7. They have seen “Othello” at our National Theatre.

8. You have paid for the envelopes.

9. Mike has come back.

10. Our national football team has lost the decisive game.

 

2) Do as you are told and say what you have done.

   Model: Open the book.- I have opened my book.

1. Clean the blackboard.

2. Close your book.

3. Put your pen on the table.

4. Bring your diary.

5. Write this word on the blackboard.

6. Put your pencil into your pencil-box.

7. Take your English book out of your bag.

8. Come up to the table.

9. Visit this exhibition.

10. Go to that concert.

3) Use the affirmative of the Present Perfect instead of the negative form of the Present Continuous:

   Model:  I am not reading the book. – I have read the book.

  1. The teacher is not explaining the rule.
  2. Mother is not cooking dinner.
  3. I am not doing my homework.
  4. The boy is not washing his hands.
  5. We are not having breakfast.
  6. Tom is not painting the fence.
  7. I am not cleaning my room.
  8. The girl is not learning the poem.
  9. I am not repairing my bike.
  10.  The children are not drinking milk.
  11. They are not crossing the street.

4) Extend the following sentences as in the model.

   Model: I am not going to do this exercise. – I am not going to do this exercise because I have already done it.

  4. He is not going to have supper.
  5. They are not going to repair the road.
  6. I am not going to buy a DVD.

  1. Replace the Infinitives in brackets by the Present Perfect or the Past Indefinite.

    6) Answer the following questions as in the model. Use the suggested words.

                      Model:    -Where is Mary? (to go home)

       4. Where is your brother? (to go to school)

     7) Answer the questions in the negative as in the model.

                   Model:    -Is Ann still painting the picture?

                                  -No, she has already painted it.                                   

          1. Is Helen still dusting the rugs?

           2. Is Donald still washing his car?

           3. Is Ann still sweeping the floor?

           4. Are the Browns still packing their things?

           5. Is the father still repairing his watch?

           6. Is mother still cooking supper?

           7. Are the pupils still writing the composition?

         3. Pair work.                 

   1) Ask your friend why (where, how) he (she, somebody else) has done it.

                    Model: -I have already seen this ballet. (where)

                                 -Where have you seen it?

                                 -At the National Opera.

            1. I haven’t read today’s paper. (why)

            2. Peter has lost his dictionary. (where)

            3. She hasn’t done her homework. (why)

            4. They have planted fruit trees near the house.(how many)

            5. Mary hasn’t answered Jane’s letter. (why)

            6. He has made many mistakes in his dictation.(why)

   2) Ask your friend who exactly has done it.

                     Model: -He has bought a new car.

                                 -Who has bought a new car?

                                 - Our  neighbour has.

            1. She has already taken the medicine.

            2. They have just returned from the park.

            3. They have cleaned their classroom.

            4. He has lost his new pen.

            5. She has left her umbrella at home.

            6. They have moved to a new flat.

            7. She has written a letter to her pen-friend.

           4. Writing.

  Translate the following sentences:

  1. Я вже написала доповідь на цю тему.
  2. Ви коли-небудь говорили з ним про це?
  3. Ви вже читали сьогоднішню газету?
  4. Скільки разів ви були в театрі?
  5. Я не бачила свою подругу вже дуже давно.
  6. Ви вже поснідали? - Так.
  7. Я вже вивчила текст і зараз повторюю слова.

    5. Playtime. Memorize these English proverbs and rhymes.

              Try to give Ukrainian equivalents.

  1. When children stand quiet they have done some harm.
  2. Don’t sell the bear’s skin before you have caught it.
  3. Whatever man has done man can do.
  4. The mouse that has built one hole is quickly taken.
  5. He knows the water well who has waded through it.

          What did you say for it?

                 Thank, you, grandma.

 

                       THE BIRTHDAY CHILD

                    Everything’s been different

                    All the day long,

                    Lovely things have happened,

                    Nothing has gone wrong.

                    Nobody has scolded me,

                    Everyone has smiled.

                    Isn’t it delicious

                    To be a birthday child?

  1. Reading.

Read the text and copy out the verbs in Present Perfect.

                                    TROUBLE

   Two little boys were making a lot of noise in a train. The guard watched them patiently for some time, then he lost his temper and said the children must behave or he would make trouble. The boys’ father said: “You don’t know what trouble is. I have already gone through a lot of trouble. My wife’s in hospital. I’m on the way to see my mother-in law who has broken her leg. My daughter has had triplets. One of the boys has just smashed his finger  and the other has chewed up our tickets. To top it all, we have taken the wrong train.”
