Сценарій заходу "Традиції Різдвяного святкування (Traditions of Christmas celebration)" для учнів 9-10 класів

Мета заходу: популяризувати різдвяні традиції англомовних країн, таким чином прищеплюючи та розвиваючи інтерес до вивчення  англійської мови; заохочувати зацікавленість українськими різдвяними традиціями через подачу їх англійською мовою; сприяти зближенню культур українського народу та Англії і Америки, зокрема; розширювати ерудованість учнів та підвищувати результативність у вивченні англійської мови.

Обладнання: мультимедійна система для демонстрації слайдів (для ілюстративного відображення змісту віршів та пісень) та відтворення необхідних музичних уривків; елементи різдвяного декору: ялинка, фігура янгола, різдвяні панчохи, різдвяні вінки з дзвіночками і омелою, тощо.

Складові елементи заходу: англійські різдвяні пісні "Silent Night", "We Wish You a Merry Christmas", "Jingle Bells'; вірші англійською про Різдво (англійське); український вертеп англійською мовою; українська колядка "Нова радість стала" у супроводі гітари/фонограми.

Хід заходу

(students are standing in front of the audience, wearing Christmas/Santa`s hats, Christmas ties, tissles)

S1: In the days of Herod the King, the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city named Nazareth, to a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph. AND THE ANGEL said, You will bring forth a son, and will call his name Jesus. He will be called the Son of the Highest: and of his kingdom there will be no end. And the angel departed from her.

S2: AND SHE brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swadding clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.  

Students sing the first half of "Silent Night"

Silent night, holy night
All is calm, all is bright
'Round yon virgin Mother and Child
Holy infant so tender and mild
Sleep in heavenly peace
Sleep in heavenly peace

S3:                                      "Christmas Eve" 

On a winter night
When the moon is low
Rabbits hop on the frozen show.
The woodpecker sleeps in his hole in the treet
And fast asleep is the chickadee.

S4:                                       

Twelve o`clock
And the world is still
As the Christmas star comes over the hill.
The angels sing, and sing again:
"Peace on earth, goodwill to men."

S5:                                         "It`s Christmas"
 

It`s Christmas! Merry Christmas!
yes, it`s merry, merry Christmas,
it`s a time for hanging stockings,
it`s a time riding sleighs,

S6:                              

It`s a time for jolly greeting,
snow and holly overearing,
oh, I love you, merry Christmas,
you`re the best of holidays.

The performers sing "We Wish You a Merry Christmas"

And a Happy New Year.

S7:                                      "Christmas Bells"

I heard the bells on Christmas day
Their old fmiliar carols play,
And wild and sweet
The words repeat
Of Peace on earth, Goodwill to men

    The students sing "Jignle Bells"             

Dashing through the snow

In a one horse open sleigh

O'er the fields we go

Laughing all the way

Bells on bob tails ring

Making spirits bright

What fun it is to laugh and sing

A sleighing song tonight

Oh, jingle bells, jingle bells

Jingle all the way

Oh, what fun it is to ride

In a one horse open sleigh

Jingle bells, jingle bells

Jingle all the way

Oh, what fun it is to ride

In a one horse open sleigh                      

Now those who take part in The Vertep leave to dress n the costumes. Three students continue to stay in front of the audience, the rest stand aside.

S8: Now listen to Christmas ABC.

The ABC is shown on slides letter by letter while the students are  saying it. After the ABC is over everybody hears the knock at the door and the Vertep are coming in.  

Zvizdar:               Do you mind singing us carols

In this very house,

Showing the Nativity Play,

Dear sisters and brothers?

Shepherd 1:      We’ve come to tell you

                          Of a miraculous news,

                          Of a Heaven’s child,

                         The only God of Jews.

Shepherd 2:  We’ve heard the angels singing their song majestic, merry,

                      cheering.

Shepherd 1:  That in a cave, in crib

                    The Son of Lord was born, indeed  

The Angel:  Oh, Christ is born!

                    Where’s the kingdom of God

                   From there I’m coming

                 And merry news to you I’m carrying.

Suddenly the door opens again and the evil creature with short horns on the head and a tail runs in front of the audience. He has thin tree branches in his hand.

The Evil Creature:         Hello! Good morning! Guten Tag!

                                       I am Antypko, as you see it,

                                     The Evil one, the Evil spirit.

You are surprised, that I’m here,

I know this, oh, children, dear.

I’ve eaten sweets and marmalade,

All nuts and pears, lemonade.

But you are left so nice and big

Oh, very many willow twigs.

For lazy – bones, never studying

We’ll give them all, and don’t be crying!

Who never help to their parents

To them we’ll give the twigs,

Good Heavens!

(comes up to children and gives the twigs)

The Angel:                      Oh, Antypko, go away,

                                       There’s nobody bad.

The Evil Creature:                      OK.

The Angel:                        Peace and kindness

                                              Have forever!

The King:                           You rebel? Are you rebelling?

                                           Yeh, I hear all you say,

                                          And repeat to you again:

                                        I’m the only king for serving!

The Evil Creature (to the Death):  Help us, sister, help us, dear,

                                                         His black soul take form here,

                                                         Take away, and you’ll always have

                                                        Payless force in our Hell.

The Death: Oh, that`s nice,

                   I`ve always dreamt

                   Get him ready for Hell help

(Takes Herod the King to leave with him)

The Death: Go, Antypko! Thank you guys. 

 (They leave)                       
 

The Vertep is over and all the performers return to the stage and offer the audience to sing "Нова радість" together. After that the audience is offered to sing "Jingle Bells" (chorus) together.
