T: Before we learn new words, let’s look at some pictures. Here’s the Golden Gate (Bridge) – look at the screen. What is this?

T: Perfect! I’ll write the word “bridge” on the board. A bridge helps people move over water or land. Now, let’s learn more about them.

T: Now, let’s learn some action words. When we build something, we need to:

Glue/stick (приклеювати) – We glue the pieces together.

Cut (вирізати) – We cut the paper or material.

Press (натиснути) – We press the parts together.

Attach/join (з’єднувати) – We attach the parts of the bridge.

Fold (згинати) – We fold the paper to make a shape.

Draw a line (малювати лінію) – We draw a line before cutting.

Mark points (позначати точки) – We mark the points where we will attach parts.

T: Let’s read about famous bridges. You will read one part and translate it. Who’d like to go first?

P1: “Bridges are amazing structures that help people travel over rivers, valleys, and roads. Around the world, there are many famous bridges with different designs”.

T: Okay, everyone, now it’s time for the most exciting part of our lesson – the STEM activity! You’re going to become engineers and build your own bridges. You’ll work in groups of 4. On your desks, you have paper, glue, and disposable cups. Your task is to build a bridge that’s strong enough to hold a toy car. Let’s make it fun and creative! Before you start, let’s watch some video examples. Maybe they will help you.

(Pupils watch video examples.)

T: While you build, think about what we’ve learned. Will you make a beam bridge that’s flat? An arch bridge with a curve? Or maybe a truss bridge with triangles for strength? Also, take this sheet and write down your steps as you go – like a little engineering diary. For example: ‘Step 1: We glued two cups as supports’. Ready?

T: One more thing – after building, you’ll sell your bridge to the class, like a commercial. Use our new words and tell us why it’s the best! Then, I’ll test it with this toy car to see if it holds. Any questions? Okay, let’s start – go!

Group 1: Let’s make a beam bridge. We’ll glue cups at the ends and put paper on top.
