From Illness to Fitness
Health is the most important thing we have. As the famous proverb says, "An apple a day keeps the doctor away." However, we all get sick or hurt sometimes. It is important to know the symptoms and what to do.
Dealing with Illnesses
Winter is usually the season for colds and the flu. If you have a runny nose, a cough, and a sore throat, you probably caught a cold. The flu is more serious. Its symptoms often include a high temperature (fever), a terrible headache, and shivering. When you feel unwell, you should stay in bed, drink plenty of warm herbal tea with lemon and honey, and take your temperature. If the pain is bad, you might need to take medicine. If you don't get better, you must make an appointment with your doctor.
Injuries and Accidents
Injuries can happen anywhere, especially during sports or active games. You might fall down and get a bruise on your knee or a cut on your finger. If you are not careful while running, you could twist your ankle. This is very painful and swollen. In serious accidents, people can even break a leg or an arm. In case of a serious injury, you should call an ambulance or go to the emergency room immediately. Keeping Fit
The best way to stay healthy is prevention. To keep fit, you should follow a healthy lifestyle.
1. Exercise regularly: Go jogging, swimming, or attend PE lessons at school.
2. Eat a balanced diet: Your body needs vitamins. Eat fruits and vegetables, but try to avoid junk food and sweets.
3. Sleep well: Teenagers need at least 8–9 hours of sleep to feel energetic. Remember, your health is in your hands!
