PROCEDURE
I. Preliminaries
1. Greeting and Aim
T: Good morning, dear pupils! I’m very glad to see you today. How are you?
I hope that you are fine and ready for our lesson. It will be an unusual lesson – the competition between the teams of the sixth forms. Now I want to introduce the participants of our competition, the pupils who love and know English. So, meet the teams and their captains. I wish you good luck and success. Be very attentive and don’t be afraid, everything will be all right.
2. Warming up
Now, look at the blackboard. There is a sentence here. But all the words in it are written together. Try to divide these words and read this sentence.

So, this is the motto of our lesson.
II. The Main Part of the Lesson
ROUND I
T: Let’s start our competition. The first round is very easy and very difficult at the same time, because you must complete the proverbs! You will answer one by one. If one of the teams is wrong the second team will have a chance to answer. For every correct ending 1 point will be given to you.

T: ROUND II. Thank you, your answers were perfect. And now we’ll pass to the second round. Here are some sentences. All of them have grammar mistakes. Your task is to correct them. For every corrected mistake you will get 1 point.

T: ROUND III. Do you like to guess the puzzles? Of course, you do. That is
the third round. I’ll read a puzzle to both teams one by one. You have to answer
it quickly and correctly. Is it clear? So let’s start. For every correct answer 2
points will be given to you.

T: ROUND IV. Now, the task for the captains. So, be attentive I have two envelopes with the tasks. You have to write as many words as you can on the topic from the envelope. Each team will have 1 point for every correct item.
TOPICS “Holidays” and “Food”
T: ROUND V. Your next round is: you have to answer the questions in turn. For every correct answer you’ll get1 point.
1. The opposite of cold is …
2. The opposite of bad is…
3. What is the last month of the year?
4. What month comes before March?
5. How many minutes are there in an hour?
6. How many hours are there in a day?
7. What is the past form of “come”, “speak”?
8. What is the past form of “go”, “make”?
T: ROUND VI. Do you like sports? I think you do, because everybody wants to be healthy, strong and beautiful. So, I’ll read you the description of different sports and games and you try to guess what it is. For every correct answer 2 points will be given.
T: ROUND VII. Do you like travelling? Which types of travel have you tried? (Plane, boat, hitch-hiking, ship, train, car …). Which do you like best? Why?
So, I’ll read you the description of different kinds of travelling and you must guess what it is? For every correct answer you’ll get 1 point.
T: ROUND VIII. Now, let’s pass to the sixth round .You’ll have to answer some questions about Great Britain and Ukraine. For every correct answer 2 points will be given.
T: ROUND IX. Now, look at these pictures and try to guess the places of interest of London. For every correct answer you’ll also get 1 point. (Big Ben, Tower Bridge, Tower of London, The Houses of Parliament, Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, Piccadilly Circus, St. Paul’s Cathedral, London Eye, Trafalgar Square, Madame Tussauds Waxmuseum, Double-Decker Bus, Taxi, St. James’s Park)
T: ROUND X. So, the last task is for the captains of both teams. Imagine that you are the guide in London. Tell your group about London. For this task 10 points will be given if everything is correct.
III. The Final Part of the Lesson

T: - Now we have finished all the tasks and its time to announce the winner. According to the scores we can congratulate the team of the 6 “ ” form with the victory and present them with golden medals “The best English learner”. And another team also receives silver medals “Good English learner”.
