Healthy Food (Form 5)
Objectives:
- to activate topical vocabulary through games;
- to revise topical proverbs
;
- to practise usage of structures I like..., I don't like;
- to develop students' listening, reading, speaking skills;
- to teach students to work in pairs, groups.
Equipment: topical flashcards, posters, cards with sayings, a presentation of the lesson.
Procedure
I. Introduction. Warming-up
T: Hello, everyone! Glad to see you! How are you?
Ss: Hello, teacher! We are glad to see you, too. We are great, thank you!
T: Let's start our lesson with the chant. Repeat after me, please.
I am a good student.
I am a clever student.
I am a talented student.
I am a fantastic student.
I am the most enthusiastic student.
I am the most hardworking student.
I am trying to be the best student in the world.
T: The topic of our lesson is "Healthy Food". By the end of the lesson you should be able to distinguish healthy and unhealthy food. We'll read, speak English, do exercises, play games.
I am sure you'll enjoy our lesson. Look at the screen now. It's the motto of our lesson. Let's say it together: "Eat well - fell well".
II. The Main Part of the Lesson
Phonetic drills
T: We are going to have some phonetic drills. Look at the screen again.
A cup of nice coffee in a nice coffee-cup
T: Now read the proverbs and try to give Ukrainian equivalents.
An apple a day keeps the doctor away.
After dinner sit a while, after supper walk a mile.
(Students give Ukrainian equivalents and try to explain the meaning of the proverbs.)
Interactive Activity "Microphone"
T: Our next task is to name the dish. Now you'll work in groups. You have to discuss what you usually have for breakfast, dinner, supper.

Practise grammar structures I like.../I don't like...
T: Look at the screen, please! You can see some pictures on it. I support you to speak about your eating likings.
(Students answer in a chain.)
Relaxation Time (a game "Cookies")
Ss: Who took the cookies from the cookie jar?
T: I think Mark took the cookies from the jar.
S1: Who me?
Ss: Yes, you.
S1: Not me.
Ss: Then who?
S1: I think Pavlo took the cookies from the jar. Etc.
Reflection (using cards)
T: What food is healthy? Write true or false.
