Future Profession (form 5)

Цілі уроку:

освітня: активізувати лексичний матеріал з теми в усному та писемному мовленні;

практичні: тренувати учнів у побудові речень, використовуючи Future Simple, формувати вміння і навички сприймати англійське мовлення на слух, працювати в малих групах;

розвивальна: розвивати комунікативні здібності, фонематичний слух, пам'ять, увагу, вміння колективно і злагоджено працювати під час створення спільного проекту;

виховна: виховувати цілеспрямованість, старанність, повагу до людей різних професій, інтерес до вивчення англійської мови.

Методично-дидактичне забезпечення уроку: ноутбук, телевізор, ілюстрації людей різних професій, роздавальний матеріал, записи на дошці, девіз.

Тип уроку: урок-практикум.

                                                 Procedure

I. Introduction. Warming-up ("brainstorm round a word")

T: Good morning, everyone! I am glad to see you! How are you?

Ss: Good morning, teacher! We are glad to see you, too. We are fine, thank you! And what about you?

T: I am great, thanks a lot! I see you are ready for the lesson. So, let's start our work! Look at my table, please! There are many different things. Think a little and say what people can use them?

(Learners express their opinions.)

T: What do all these words mean?

Ss: Professions.

T: You are right! The topic of our lesson is "Future Profession". You will be able to introduce your projects, you'll practice to use the words about professions and describe pictures using Future Simple, you'll listen to an interesting text and do many useful tasks. Be active and attentive, please! The motto of our lesson is "All Professions are useful and interesting".

T: Now it's time for warming-up. Say and write on the board all the words which associate with "profession".

Phonetic drills

T: Let's improve your pronunciation. I'll show you some cards with sounds, you must pronounce and name the profession which begin with it. Are you ready?

(S) seller, secretary, spaceman

(K) correspondent, compositor

(D) driver, doctor

(P) postman, policeman, pilot

II. The Main Part

Checking up homework

(Students present their projects about their parents' job using their drawings.)

Vocabulary Practice

T: Match the professions with their definitions.

1. a seller

2. a waiter

3. a secretary

4. a postman

a) types the computer;

b) someone who works in a shop selling things and helping customers;

c) delivers newspapers and magazines;

d) a man who serves food in a cafe or in a restaurant.

Writing Practice

T: Now I am going to give you two pictures for each group. Your task is to make up and write down the sentence using the pictures.

Physical Activity

T: I see you are tired, so let's have a rest. Repeat after me!

1 - I am looking at the sun.

2 - I am cleaning my shoes.

3 - I am watering the tree.

4 - I am going to the shop.

5 - I am hurrying to my mum.

The game "Actor"

(One student from each group show the profession and other  students try to guess what profession is it.)

Speaking Practice (in pairs)

S1: What will you do in the future?

S2: I'll be a(an)....

III. Summing-up. Reflection. Home Assignment

T: Our lesson is coming to its end. I would like to say that you were active, energetic, confident, hardworking and smart. Your marks are good and excellent today. You are the best!

T: Now look at the board, please!  You can see three baskets on it: interesting, useful and difficult. You have got sheets of paper on your desks and they are different colours. Yellow - What was the most interesting at the lesson? Red - What was  useful for me at the lesson? Blue - What was  difficult at the lesson? Take the colorful card, write your opinion on it and put into the basket.

(Students express their opinions and feelings.)

T: Now open your record-books and write down your homework for the next lesson. It'll be in two teams. The first team has to make up the dialogue using the professions; the second team has to write an essay about favourite profession. Have you got any questions? OK. Our lesson is over. See you later! Goodbye, guys!
