MY FAMILY

(Grade 3)

   Type of lesson: development of competencies.

Objectives: by the end of the lesson students will be able to :

 - use vocabulary on the following topic “My family”;

 - revise previously learned material;

 - activate new vocabulary;

 - to develop pupils' memory and imagination.

 - to improve spiking , writing and reading skills;

Materials: Course book, audio CD, com­puters, pictures, crossword.

Мета: проконтролювати ступінь засвоєних знань, сформованості навичок за темою «Моя сім'я», повторити утворення кількісних числівників; тренувати вміння визначати час, практикувати в складанні речень притримуючись порядку слів в англійському реченні, вміння називати  математичні дії іноземною мовою; в ході заняття забезпечити розвиток у дітей позитивних емоцій, пізнавального інтересу, математичних здібностей; виховувати повагу до батьків.

І. Introduction to the topic

1. Greeting

T : Who is on duty today?

Ch: I am.

2. Warm up

T : Listen to me and try to understand.

I Love My Mummy.

1,1,1- I love the sun

2,2,2- I love my Mummy too

3,3,3- My Mummy loves me.

4,4,4-I love her more and more

I count from 1- I love the sun

I count to 4- I love my Mummy more.

T : Who wants to translate this rhyme?

1.Speaking

T : By the way, what season is it now?

Ch: It’s spring.

T : What is the weather like today? Is the weather sunny or windy?

T : Is it cold today? Is it warm or chilly today?

Ch:

T : What colour are the clouds?

Ch: The clouds are blue.

T : What is the temperature in the yard?

T : And what about you?

T :    The topic of our lesson is “My Family” and I check if you remember the vocabulary and grammar on this topic, we’ll practice to use the words about our family and revise the numerals.  But today we have an unusual lesson. Сьогодні у нас в гостях героїня казки «Попелюшка» і їй дуже сумно, бо всі її родичі їдуть на бал, який відбудеться в Королівстві, а вона мусить виконувати накази мачухи, але ми можемо допомогти Попелюшці швидше впоратися зі справами і вона встигне на свято.

What is the English for “Попелюшка”?  Who knows? Let’s remember the English alphabet.

ІІI Main part

1. Doing the sums

T : As you know, Cinderella has sisters but they can not count so she has to teach them Maths.  Let see how the girl is doing this.

Зараз я буду показувати вам приклади. А ви маєте називати їх та вирішувати.

T : (показує картки) 34+35  How much is thirty- four plus thirty- five?

Ch: Thirty- four plus thirty- five is sixty- nine.

T : How much is 63+7?

Ch: Sixty-three plus seven is seventy.

T : How much is 50+40?

Ch:

T : How much is 35-5?

Ch: Thirty -five minus five is thirty.

T : How much is 100-9?

Ch:

2. Anagrams

T : Ви допомогли  Попелюшці впоратися з цим завданням, але зла мачуха взяла та й змішала весь горох і наказала дівчинці перебрати його так, щоб кожна горошина стала на своє місце. Але тут вона забула, що Попелюшка товаришує з всіма звірятами та птахами лісу. Тільки-но взялася до роботи, як у вікна стали їй стукати голуби, залетіли до оселі та й стали їй допомагати. Давайте ж й ми не будемо байдужими до Попелюшки.

Let’s start to make up words with this letters. (На дошці прикріплені голуби та горошини з буквами)

T : Open your copybooks and write down the date.

T : And what is your word? Read it, please. You are right. (therfa-father, isters- sister, borerth- brother, taun- aunt, uclen- uncle, mograndther- grandmother, thergranfad- grandfather)

3. Physical Activity

4. Game “ Who will be the first?”

T : І на цьому не зупинилася мачуха, хоче вона щоб Попелюшка ще й речення за її діточок правильно склала, поставивши слова на свої місця.

Make up sentences putting the words given below in the correct order.

I divide you into two teams such way that the first row is the first team and the second row is the second one. Your task is to put the words in the sentences in the correct order . Start to make up the sentences

1) name  mother’s is my Helen. a is She doctor. 

2) name is Victor father’s my. Is He a teacher.

T : Які ж у вас були речення? Вийдіть до дошки та покажіть їх.

Ch: My mother’s name is Helen. She is a doctor.

T : Чи правильно перша команда склала речення?

Ch: They are right.

T : Друга команда, вийдіть ви тепер.

Ch: My father’s name is Victor. He is a teacher.

T : Answer my questions:

5.Game “ What time is it now?”

T : Нарешті впоралася Попелюшка з всіма завданнями, але біда… що ж їй вдягти на бал? Та несподівано з'явилася хрещена мати, змахнула казковою палицею і ось дівчина вже в красивому вбранні (вивішую Попелюшку), а перед нею стоїть карета. Але ж яка година?

What time is it? (Показую час на годиннику)

Ch: It is a half past two. It is ten to three…

6. Sing the song

T : Попелюшка ще встигає до Королівства на бал, тому їй дуже весело і вона їде та співає пісню. Давайте підтримаємо її.

IV. Summing up

1. Vocabulary Practice. Cross-word

T: І ось вона піднімається сходами, але що це? Далі знову немає ходу.

Перед нею двері, а на них аж 6 замків. І щоб відімкнути кожен, вона має відгадати слово ось з цього кросворду (на дошці сходинки, де висить 6 замків, а також кросворд) давайте їй допоможемо (Діти відгадують слова, а я знімаю замки та Попелюшка піднімається вгору до принца)

T: This is a man, who I love best of all.

Ch: Father.

T: My mother’s sister.

Ch: Aunt.

T: This is a woman, who I love best of all.

Ch: Mother.

T: My mother’s daughter, and for me…

Ch: Sister.

T: Нарешті зустрілися Попелюшка та принц і були дуже щасливими. От і я дуже рада, що ви впоралися з завданнями, показали свої знання з теми і отримуєте такі оцінки…
