PROCEDURE
P1: I study English because I think it’s very important to know English nowadays. I want to speak English, I want to read English books in the original, I am fond of English songs and want to have some pen-friends abroad.
P2: I study English because I am sure it makes sense to know English nowadays. The more languages you know the better.
T: I fully agree with you. You can’t imagine what an important person you will be with the knowledge of English. The whole world will be open to you. And how do you feel at our English lesson, comfortable or out of place?
P3: I feel comfortable because I am never idle, I try to work hard and I never miss my English lessons. I wish we could see each other more often.
T: Thank you! Have you achieved any good results?
P4: I hope so. I think I have good command of English.
T; Is there anything you regret?
P5: Yes, there is something. I wish I knew English better.
T: And where do you see the problem? Take advantage of our English lessons and gain your conversational experience. I am always ready to give you a hand. You may count on me any day, any time, you know. And what about you,Sasha? Why do you study English?
P6: I like to travel very much. I am going to visit many countries in the future. I am sure the knowledge of English will help me during my travelling.
T: And what do you think about it, Alina?
P7: I am of the same opinion. The lack of knowledge of English is a big disadvantage during travelling.
T: I must say I fully agree with you. Well, and now let’s guess a riddle “The topic of our today’s lesson”. It will be food, clothes, shops? Any guesses?
( Pupils guess the topic with the teacher’s prompts. The teacher writes it down on the blackboard: SHOPS and SHOPPING.
T: Right, and now you are to revise some vocabulary. Remember: two heads are better than one. Work in pairs; you have 4 minutes to remember and produce a list of words from the following word groups: food, clothes, shops. Make use of the category card. Which pair can write more words in 5 minutes?
( The pupils do the tasks ).
T: Good job. Congratulations to the winners. And those, who have lost, don’t despair, you’ll have a chance to play once again.
( The pupil reads the text and all pupils follow her).
T: Well, children, we’ll do some tasks.
свіже масло, вийти з лавки якомога швидше, сісти якнайближче до груби, кілька полін, зняти капелюха, ніби нічого не трапилося, попрямувати до дверей, покарати людину за крадіжку.
What was the man’s name who stole a pound of butter?
Why did Seth want to get out of the shop at once?
Why did the shopkeeper make Seth sit close to the stove?
What did the shopkeeper say to the man?
( “A Good Lesson “ , “ Punishment for Stealing “ )
can you say about it, Vova ?
( The pupil retells the text of exercise 2 on page 30-31.)
T: Now, my dear friends, you are welcome to London. London is a famous shopping centre. Harrods is the largest department store in Europe. It sells everything. Your order will be delivered to anywhere in the world. There are 230 selling departments in Harrods, including its famous food halls. There are 4,000 Harrods staff.
