УРОК З АНГЛІЙСЬКОЇ МОВИ В 7 КЛАСІ

НА ТЕМУ:

«A Trip to London

Мета уроку: Практична: Вивчення та відпрацювання вживання лексики по темі в усному мовленні;

Формування навичок монологічного мовлення, сприйняття на слух іншомовних слів, опису місця за малюнком;

Відпрацювання фонетичних мовленнєвих структур( звуків та звукосполучень), відпрацювання вживання граматичних структур there is... there are.... Розвиваюча: Розвивати вміння працювати в різних режимах навчання, розвивати загальнокультурні вміння, розвивати вміння працювати в команді;

Виховна: Виховання морально – етичних якостей дитини, дружності, культури інтелектуальної праці

 

 

Обладнання:відео по темі, роздатковий матеріал для читання та письма, граматичні картки, малюнки із зображенням відомих місць Лондона, карти Лондона

 

Procedure

  1. Warming up ( slide 1)

T: Good morning, children. I’m glad to see you at the lesson today. I hope you are all right and ready to work hard. So many guests have come to our lesson. I believe you’ll do your best and our friends will be pleased and satisfied with our lesson. The topic of our lesson is “London”, but today we have an unusual lesson, it’s a tour around London. Imagine that we are in a modern and very comfortable double-decker bus, some of us are guides,

Speaking ( slide 2)

St. Augustine once said, “The world is a book and those who don’t travel, read only one page.” (Ці слова є епіграфом до уроку)

P1: I quite agree with the words, because the world is big and when you travel you learn a lot of interesting things.

P4: It seems to me, we can speak English better if we visit England.

P5: To my mind traveling is an interesting thing.

P6: The world is a book and London is its wonderful page.

T: What ways of travelling do you know?

P1: We can travel by boat, by car, by train, by plane, by bus.

T: Today we are going to have two excursions to London - classical excursion and  video excursion

I1. Listening

1.P1: We welcome you in London. It’s a very large city in the world. About 7 million people live here. London is more than two thousand years old. It’s most famous sights are: the Houses of Parliament, Trafalgar Square with the monument to Admiral Nelson, the National Gallery, Downing Street, Whitehall. You’ll see all these places and much more of London from our double-decker.

T: Who knows when the first double-decker was built and how it looked like? Let’s ask our driver about it.

Driver: The first double-decker was built in 1851, but the upper deck didn’t have a roof until 1930. And the driver gave to the passengers raincoats to put on if it started to rain.

SOME  INTERESTING  FACTS  ABOUT  DOUBLE  DECKER  BUSES

         1. A double decker bus is a symbol of London. It is 9 metres long.

         2. The first red double decker bus in London, “Routmaster” started in 1956.

         3. Sometimes you can see a phantom of the red double decker bus on the London streets.

         4. This Routmaster №7 drives with no lights, no passengers, no driver.

         5. It was last spotted in 1990.

         6. There are only two double decker buses in central London now,  because they are not able to take disabled passengers.

3. Excursion o London

P2: Now we are coming to the centre of London.

Trafalgar Square is a geographical centre of London. It’s the largest among London’s squares. Trafalgar Square is the place where mass meetings, demonstrations and celebrations are held. ( slide 5)

In the centre of the square you can see Nelson Column – the monument to the great English admiral. The Square is named so to honour his victory. The statue of the admiral decorates the top of the column. The main building of Trafalgar Square is the National Gallery. A great many tourists visit the gallery. It was opened in 1838. There is a big collection of paintings of the famous painters: Rubens, Rembrandt and others.( slide 6)

P3: And then we are at the Houses of Parliament. It is the seat of the  British Parliament. Here you can see the House of Commons and the House of   Lords.( slide 7)

The Clock Tower of the Houses of Parliament is famous for its big hour Bell, known as “Big Ben”. Big Ben is named after Sir Benjamin Hall. In fact Big Ben is really the name of the bell in the tower, not of the clock. ( slide 7)

P4: Number 10, Downing Street has been the home of the British Prime Minister since 1735. .( slide 8)

Downing Street leads off the south-west end of Whitehall. Whitehall is a road in Westminster. It is the main road running north from Parliament Square to Changing Cross. Now you can see busy Whitehall traffic with the clock tower and Big Ben. .( slide 9)

5. Relaxing time

T: Are you tired? Let’s go to St. James Park. ( slide 11). Close your eyes and listen to the singing of birds and do the next activities

Look at that rose,

Close your eyes.

Open, wink and smile.

Your eyes are happy again!

 

6. Postlistening- 

You will listen to 5 descriptions. Your task is matching the pictures with the   numbers of descriptions .

1) It is very old. It has a long and cruel history. You can see it from the river Thames. It has twenty towers. Many years the Kings and the Queens of Britain lived in this place. (The Tower of London)

2) It stands near the Houses of Parliament. It is really a bell. It weighs 13,720 kilograms. It has a deep tone and you can hear it on the radio. It is a famous clock.( Big Ben)

3) It is not far from the Houses of Parliament. It is a symbol of England. It was founded by St. Peter and built by King Edward in 1065. Some famous English people are buried there. (Westminster Abbey )

4) The tall column stands in its middle. It is a monument of Admiral Nelson. Four bronze lions look at the square from the monument. There are two beautiful fountains on it.( Nelson Column)

5) It is a very beautiful building. It is a place where the British Queen Elizabeth lives when she is in London. (Buckingham Palace )

 

7. Working with video

3. On the other side of the Millenium Bridge is St.Paul's Cathedral. It is a tourist attraction  and  you  can  walk  the 600  steps  up  to  the  Gallery  and see London  F ( 530)

4. You can take a boat along the Thames. This is Tower Bridge , it opens up for big boats and all the cars traffic has to stop for about 15 minutes T

5. If you keep going west , you arrive in the new Docklands area. F ( east)
