Procedure
Good morning, students! How are you today? What weather is it like today? What date is it today? Write down the date and the topic, please. They are on the board.
2. Checking home task
1) What are non-finite forms of the verb? What functions can they perform?
2) Translate the sentences orally, mind the idioms:
- You have to brainstorm this question.
- Yesterday I hit the books all night long and now I’m worn out.
- I want to pass all the exams with flying colors.
- He is a bookworm, he probably lives in library.
- Megan, if you don’t stop cheating at the exams you’ll drop out of the college.
3. Warm-up
1) What do you get at the end of each class?
2) Have you ever got an “F”? What for?
3) What were the highest and the lowest points you’ve ever got?
4. Reading
1) Read ex. 1, p. 33.
2) Do ex. 2, p. 34.
5. Reading
It’s high time for our traditional idioms.
6. Writing
Write down the idioms and their translations (списувати, ентузіаст/працьовита людина, улюбленець вчителя)
7. Summary
1) What do you think: is grading always fare? Why? / Why not?
2) Do you know any teacher’s pets / copycats? How do you feel about them?
3) What do you think: who gets better grades boys or girls? Why?

Do ex. 4, p. 35, revise idioms.
