A trip  to  national parks

Objectives:

- to develop students’ speaking, reading and listening skills;

- to practise skills to work in group;

- to practise students’ grammar skills in using Present Passive;

- to develop students’ communicative skills using active vocabulary on the topic;

- to widen students’ knowledge on the topic;

- to develop students’ logical thinking, creative abilities, imagination.

Type of lesson:   developing communicative skills

Equipment: a text-book “English 11” by O.Karpiuk , CD-recorder, the smart board,  special cards for pair work, copies of texts for reading, listening, cards for matching and making up the sentences, pictures of landscapes

                        PROCEDURE

T.   Nice to meet you!

I’m happy to see you, to work with you, our topic is very interesting and exciting, because we are going to make a cyber trip to the most beautiful  parks of Great Britain, the USA and of course of our country.

I see you are in a good mood today  and  I hope you’ll get bright impressions of our meeting.

The topic of our lesson is  “A trip to national parks”

Tell me please, what are you expecting of today’s lesson?

(learn new words, get good marks, enrich our vocabulary, widen our knowledge, work in pairs, develop our communicative skills)

  •    develop communicative skills using the active vocabulary on the topic;
  •    improve your skills for reading, listening and writing;
  •    participate in common conversational exchange ;
  •    understand the gist and details of the video;
  •    visit some National Parks by means of modern technology;
  •    develop your imagination.

(There are 15 members in the UK national park family:10 in England,  2 in Scotland and 3 in Wales.  And more than 60 national  parks in the USA)

(the Broads, the lake District, the New Forest, the Great Smoky Mountains, the Great Canyon, the Yellowstone, Snowdonia …)

Why do we have national parks?

(They provide a safe home for native plants and animals. They keep the air and water clean. They help us to learn about the environment.)
