Тема. Моя школа.

Клас 6

Змістова лінія: громадянська відповідальність.

Компетентність: спілкування іноземними мовами; інформаційно-цифрова компетентність; соціальні і громадянські; загальнокультурна грамотність.

Ключові уміння: громадянськість, критичне мислення, уява, співпраця, розв’язування проблеми, розвиток.

Цілі: вдосконалювати навички вживання нових лексичних одиниць в рамках теми «Моя школа»;

вдосконалювати навички усного мовлення й аудіювання;

розширювати лексичний запас з теми;

повторити граматичний матеріал – кількісні і порядкові числівники;

розвивати мовну здогадку, фонематичний слух;

стимулювати бажання спілкуватися англійською мовою;

виховувати відповідальне ставлення до навчання.

Тип уроку: урок застосування знань, умінь, навичок.

Обладнання: комп’ютер, проектор, презентація «Моя школа».

Очікувані результати. Наприкінці уроку учні вміють:

Формувати відповіді на запитання;

правильно вживати лексичні одиниці з даної теми;

правильно вживати кількісні та порядкові числівники;

аналізувати прочитаний текст та вибирати з нього потрібну інформацію;

спілкуватися в межах обраної теми;

працювати в парах;

висловлювати свою думку.

PROCEDURE

I. Introduction.

Warm Up. Mind Map

a) Draw a circle in the centre of the board with a word “School”. Tell students that you are going to read about Tynne Secondary school and let’s point some words connected with our school.

1. Reading.

b) Reading.

My school

Our school is a three-stored building. It is quite big with sport playground behind it. There are many classrooms and specialized rooms for studying different subjects in it. Pupils study English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Ukrainian, Ukrainian Literature, Handicraft, Chemistry, Physics, Music, Art, IT and Biology are taught in well-equipped rooms. There is a good equipment for laboratory experiments there.
Mathematics, English, Music, Art, Physics and History are taught in the science rooms on the third floor. There are a special rooms equipped with computers for IT.

On the second floor, there are an Assembly Hall, a Principal office, Ukrainian and Chemistry cabinets. We have a beautiful room – Shevchenko’s Room - in honor of a great Ukrainian poet Taras Shevchenko. Near the Principal office, there is a gym. We like our gym, and we like to spend there the breaks. During the breaks we usually played there basketball or volleyball.

The dining room and the canteen are on the ground floor. There are the classrooms for the primary-school pupils, workshops, and library. Two librarians help pupils to find books they need. On the ground floor, there is a workshop too. There we are like to use some tools and machines.

c) After-Reading Activity.

• Is your school rather big?
• What do the classrooms look like?
• How many floors are there in your school?
• Where are the primary school classrooms situated in your school?
• What else is there on the second floor besides the classrooms? 
• Is your assembly hall large? 
• Are there any workshops in your school? 
• What is there on the third floor in your school? 
• Are there many English study rooms in your school? 

• Read and circle the correct numerals to complete the sentences.

• We are the pupils of the six/the sixth form.
• The assembly hall in our school is on the second/two floor.
• English is the fourth/four lesson today.
• Room twelve/twelfth is on the two/second floor.
•  Read exercise eight/the eighth on page eleven/the eleventh.

2. Speaking.

Work in groups.

• Use this chant to ask your partners about their abilities. What school subject is easy? Difficult? Boring? Exciting?Active?

III. Summary.

• Let’s study the poem.

Stay in school, don’t be a fool

A dropout gets left out,

A dropout gets pushed out

Without an education there is no beginning,

With education you are winning.
