Music is a universal language of mankind.
H. Longfellow
Music is a language that doesn’t speak in particular words. It speaks in emotions.
Keith Richards
Teacher: You can see two quotes. Do you agree with the authors? What role does music play in your life?
Learners: …
Teacher: Music is a universal language because it speaks to us without any words, music reflects our mood and emotions. I think we cannot live without it. Music accompanies us during all our life. It is in our heart, our souls and our feelings. We can hear music everywhere: in the streets and at home, over the radio and on TV, in the shops and in the parks. People all over the world are fond of music.
They listen to music, they dance to music, they learn to play musical instruments.
Music appeals to our heart. It reflects our mood and emotions. Music helps us not only to be happy but understand each other, appreciate such feelings as love, friendship, sympathy and just our life in general. It's the universal language for people of different ages, generations.

3. Reading and Listening.
Teacher: Your home task was individual. You had to download and introduce some patterns of music styles here in class.
As Englishmen say, ‘’Tastes differ’’ each of us prefers different music styles. There are a lot of them: jazz, rap, rock and roll, the blues, country and western and others.
So, let’s read some information about music styles. Ex.4,p.101 (or presentation).
Learners read the information and demonstrate the patterns of music styles (they have prepared them at home) while reading the information about them.
Teacher: Listen to the native speakers talking about their favourite music styles and do the task on the sheet.
