2.     practice listening, speaking and reading skills;

3.     revise the vocabulary connected with topic “In the city”;

4.     learn about the degrees of comparison.

Good morning, everyone. Are you ready to work? Today we’ll have an unusual lesson. We are going to travel to one city.

 

Dear children. Look at the blackboard at these pictures and try to guess what city we are going to travel.

 

Yes, you are right. We are going to travel to London. 

So, the aim of our lesson is to get as much information about London and its places of interest as possible.

 

Ok, let’s start.

Now we are in London and Pim and Pam have brought us a letter from a bad magician. There are some tasks we have to do.

 

The first task is to learn some words. 

Look at the screen. Repeat and translate them.

1). But before watching the video let’s remember what you know about London.  (Suggested answers. 

London is the capital of Britain. It is a very old city. About eight million people live in London. There is a big river in London – the Thames. There are a lot of places of interest in London.)

 

2). Now let’s join two children called Emily and Max who go sightseeing in London with their parents. Video (This is Britain, Oxford University Press, Coralyn Bradshaw). Slide №19

 

3). So, you have seen a lot of places of interest. Let’s remember and name them.

There are a lot of interesting collections in it. 

Tower Bridge is the most famous bridge in London. It is more than 100 years old. 

Westminster Abbey is an old royal church. It is the most wonderful church in Britain.

Big Ben is a famous clock in London. Big Ben is the name of a bell. The bell weights 13 tons. Buckingham palace is a home of the Queen.  The Queen and her family live there.)
