Тема: SPORT IN OUR LIFE.

Мета:

Практична: практикувати активний словник теми, ввести нові лексичні одиниці, вчити їх правильно артикулювати, розвивати вміння учнів                                                                                               логічно та послідовно викладати власні думки іноземною мовою, розширити знання учнів про спорт США та Великобританії.

Освітня: тренувати навички роботи з текстом, поглибити знання учнів про види спорту, традиції країни, мова якої вивчається, розвивати самостійне мислення, ініціативність, бажання до пізнання нового.

Розвиваюча: розвивати автентичний слух, пам’ять, увагу, логічне мислення, уяву, творчість, навички вимови, читання, розвивати зв’язне діалогічне мовлення.

Виховна: виховувати позитивне ставлення до вивчення англійської мови, до занять спортом, дотримання правил здорового способу життя.

Тип уроку: комбінований

Обладнання: мультимедійна дошка ( телевізор), презентація до уроку, картки із завданнями, картинки із зображенням видів спорту.

І.ПІДГОТОВКА ДО СПРИЙНЯТТЯ ІНШОМОВНОГО МОВЛЕННЯ.

I. INTRODUCTION

  1. Привітання. Організація класу

T: Good morning, my dear students. I am very glad to see all of you today. There are some guests at our lesson.

Today we’re going to speak about sport, sport games and sport activities.

T: Different people spend their free time in different ways. Some like traveling, reading books, some listing to music, some enjoys going to the theater and concerts. A lot of people in our country spend too much time watching TV and not enough time taking exercise. How fit are you? Do you exercise more than three times a week? Can you swim? As you can see, today we are going to speak about sport in our life. (презентація 1, слайд 1)

  • to compare the sport life in Great Britain and the USA;
  • to express your own attitude to sport;
  • to speak about your favourite kind of sport;
  • to speak about your favourite sportsman.

T: There are two groups. Every group gets the text about sport in English speaking countries. Groups will read the text by chain and after reading every pupil must prepare the question to another group.

The first group

Sports in Britain

     The British like sports very much. Their native sports are football, cricket, rugby, tennis, table-tennis, badminton, canoeing and others. The first rules for such sports as boxing, golf, hockey, yachting and horse-racing also originated from Britain. In fact they like watching sports more than playing them.    

     Football is the most popular game. Football, or soccer, is an example of a professional game. The game of football was first played in Britain, and later people began to play it in other countries. He can tell you the names of the players in the most important teams, he has pictures of them and knows the results of many matches.

      Cricket is the favorite summer sport. Cricket is a team game, usually played outdoors, on a cricket pitch, with a bat, a cricket ball, and stumps. There are 11 players on each team.

     Golf was probably invented in Holland, but has been played in Scotland for at least 400 years. Usually played by individuals.

     Tennis is also one of the most popular sport games in Britain. The first rules for tennis were drawn up by the All-England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club when it held its first tournament in the London - Wimbledon in 1877.

           The second group                      

Sports in America

     Americans pay much attention to physical fitness. Many sports and sporting activities are popular in the USA. People take part in swimming, skating, skiing, squash and badminton, tennis, marathons, bowling, archery etc. But five main American sports are hockey, volleyball, baseball, football and basketball. Basketball and volleyball were invented in America. 

     Some unusual kinds of sports originated in America. They are wind-surfing, skate-boarding and triathlon. Triathlon includes swimming, bicycle racing and long-distance-running. Now these sports are becoming more and more popular in Europe. Indeed, a sport is a part of life of an average American.                            

     Rugby is another popular American sport which is played in other countries. It is also called rugby football. The story is told that in 1823 boys at school in the USA were playing  football in the normal way, when suddenly one boy picked the ball up and ran with it. That was how a new game was born. There are two forms of rugby football: the amateur game and the professional game.

     Rugby is a team sport, played outdoors, on a rugby pitch, with an oval rugby ball, and two teams of 15 players. You play a game of rugby or a rugby match.

-Well done, and now please, match the definition with the name of the sport. I’ll give you cards – some pupils will read  the definitions and the rest will name the sport.

Examples of the cards:

  1. a game played by two teams of 11 players who try to kick a round ball into their opponents’ goal; (football)
  2. a game in which you hit a ball against a wall with your hand; (handball)
  3. a sport involving skilled and controlled physical exercises and movements, often performed in competitions; (gymnastics)
  4. the sport of jumping over a high bar using a long pole; (pole vault)
  5. a kind of skating in which you cut patterns in the ice with your skates; (figure skating)
  6. a sport in which two people fight by holding onto each other and trying to make each other fall to the ground; (wrestling)
  7. the sport lofting especially shaped weights; (weights lifting)
  8. moving your body through water; (swimming)
  9. the sport of fighting while wearing big leather gloves. (boxing)
    1.        Listening  

T: - Sport is very popular in our  country, our vocation school, all over the world. Now you will listen to the text “Sport”. While listening  to it, write out all kinds of sport you’ll hear in the text.

 

2.4. Divided for  column

We know that sport can be divided into summer sport and winter sport, outdoor sport and indoor sport. Also it can be divided into individual, team games and pair.

I propose you to do the next exercise; you should divide all these words into individual sport, team games and pair.

2j22aWhen you invite a person to do sports with you, you must use a verb GO, PLAY or DO with different sports.

USE :

  • GO with individual sports, sports you can do alone
  • Ex. Do you want to go jogging with me?

PLAY with team sports (you need a partner), competitive sports (you play to win!)

Ex. Do you want to play soccer with me?

DO with martial arts, like karate

Ex. Do you want to do karate with me?

 

T. Use the pictures on your tables to make sentences what sports do you and your friends like. (I like to play basketball; my friend likes to go swimming.). Use the screen to help you.

have sheets of papers, glue, everything for this task, now complete it and

represent to the audience. Look at the blackboard. Here you have the plan and

helpful tips.
