Theme. The place, where we live. Present Perfect with since and for in conversation Objectives:

    practical:

-         to practise making up dialogues;

-         to use  Present Perfect with for and since in the conversation; educational:

-         to  expand the pupil’s knowledge on the topic given;     developing:

-         to develop speaking skills;

-         to develop student’s memory, logical thinking, quick reaction;

-         to develop student’s communicative skills; educative:

-         to bring up respect for each other in conversation

Equipment: laptop, student’s books and workbooks, pictures, paper with tasks.

 

                          The procedure of the lesson I. Introduction.

 

1.   Greeting

-Good morning, dear students. Glad to see you.

It’s time to think

It’s time to speak

It’s time to show

Ready, steady, go.

Let’s start our lesson.  

  

2.   Warming up.

What day is it today?

What is the weather like?

Have you ever been abroad?

Have you ever been to Egypt?

Have you ever eaten Chinese food?

Have you done your Maths homework yet?

Have you done your Science homework yet?

Have you prepared for the lesson yet?

II.  The main part of the lesson

 

1. The presentation of the theme

-The theme of our lesson is” Place, where we live”. We are going to talk about  you homes using Present Perfect Tense. So what are we going to do at our lesson? Plan of the lesson:

        Communicate

         Practise

         Speak

         Think

         Write

 

The students  present the  dialogues.

 

                   Dialogue 1

Ken: Have you travelled much, Daisy ?

Daisy: Yes, a bit.

Ken: Have you ever been abroad?

Daisy: Yes, I have.

Ken: Where have you been? Daisy: I’ve been to England , Spain and America.

Ken: Wow! Lucky you! Have you ever been to Africa?

Daisy: No, I’ve never been there. How about you? Have you travelled      much? Ken: Not, not much. And I’ve never been abroad. Daisy: Never mind. You’ll go one day.

 

                  Dialogue 2

Molly: Have you done your Maths homework yet? Sam: No, not yet. It’s really hard. Have you done yours? Molly: Yes, I’ve just finished it.

Sam: How about English? Have you written that composition yet?

Molly: Yes, I’ve just handed it in. Have you done yours?

Sam: No, not yet. And I haven’t started my Art project yet.

Molly: What about our Science homework? Have you started that?

Sam: No, not yet. And I haven’t revised for the test. Molly: Test? What test?

Sam: Don’t worry! I’m only joking…Or am I…?  

 

2. Match the phrases with the words since and  for.

3.   Students make their own sentences with these phrases.

 

4.   Listen to the dialogue PB p.80. While listening the students stand  up when they hear the words: village, top floor, ground floor,                new, Sun Street, for, since, house, apartment, Park Road.

 

5.Work in groups.  Make up dialogue from these phrases.

 

                                       Dialogue 1

-         Yes, I am. I work in travel agency there. I am here on holiday. I have stayed in a local hotel .

-         I haven’t been in Ukraine since 2016.

-         You may fly to Italy in summer. I will meet you and show the beauty  of this country.

-         How long have you lived in Italy?

-         Lucky you. I have never been to Italy.

-         What are your plans? Are you going to come back to Italy?

-         I haven’t seen you for ages.

-         I have lived there for five years.

 

 

 

 

 

                      The correct variant

-         I haven’t seen you for ages.

-         I haven’t been in Ukraine since 2016. - How long have you lived in Italy?

-         I have lived there for five years

-         What are your plans? Are you going to come back to Italy?

-         Yes, I am. I work in travel agency there. I am here on holiday. I have stayed in a local hotel .

-         Lucky you. I have never been to Italy.

-         You may fly to Italy in summer. I will meet you and show the beauty  of this country

 

                                     Dialogue 2  

-         There are six. And there is a big garden near my house.

-         Do you live in a house or an apartment?

-         How long have you lived there?

-         Lucky you!  You can eat fresh fruit from your garden.

     -We live in an apartment. It’s a new block near the lake.

-         No, I don’t. I live in a house.

-         We have lived there for ten months. What about you? Do you live in an apartment?

-         How many rooms are there in your house?

 

 

                           The correct variant

-         Do you live in a house or an apartment?

-         We live in an apartment. It’s a new block near the lake. - How long have you lived there?

-         We have lived there for ten months. What about you? Do you live in an apartment?

-         No, I don’t. I live in a house.

-         How many rooms are there in your house?

-         There are six. And there is a big garden near my house.

9.   Fill in since or for.

 

1. My name’s Kate. I’m  English. I have lived in Liverpool … 16 years. Then my family moved to London. I have lived there …for five years. I have lived in London …2017. I work for a travel agency. I married to Jack. We have an apartment in London. We have had it … July.

 

 

2.Dear, Mum and Dad,

   I  have lived in Africa …two weeks and  I love it! Africa is beautiful! I haven’t travelled to any faraway place …last summer. I am so happy now!

  I have already seen Mr. Green. He is taking photos of wild animals. I haven’t seen any lions yet. I think I’ll see them later.

  Thank you for the trip. I have dreamed of Africa … my childhood. I haven’t seen you for ages. I miss you so much.    Love, Nigel

 

 

10. Writing. WB p.75 III. Summing- up.

At our lesson we have practiced speaking about the place we live using Present Perfect. I hope you have understood the difference between since and for. You will be able to use them in communication correctly.
