Урок

Тема уроку “Food. Healthy Lifestyle.”

Мета уроку:

Освітня:систематизувати і узагальнити знання учнів по теміFood, активізувати вживання в усному та писемному мовленні вивчених лексичних одиниць.

Розвиваюча: розвивати мовну здогадку, навички логічного викладу думок, творчі здібності учнів.

Виховна: прищеплювати інтерес до вивчення англійської мови;виховувати позитивне ставлення до здорової їжі та користування правилами здорового способу життя, виховувати вміння толерантно співпрацювати в парах та групах.

Тип уроку:  урок-змагання

Обладнання: комп’ютер, роздатковий матеріал по темі, малюнки “Фрукти. Овочі”, “Харчова піраміда”, прислів’я про їжу та здоровий спосіб життя, презентація “Здорові звички”, відеофрагмент «Приготування їжі за рецептами учнів класу», смайлики.

План уроку.

І 1. Introduction. Організаційний момент.

T. Good morning, boys and girls! I’m glad to see you in a good health and mood.

   2.Warming-up.

   Let’s play role-game “I wish… ” Take this orange and wish something good to your friend. I’ll start “Ann, I wish you to be healthy…(wealthy, wise, kind, hard-working, generous, strong, happy)”.

Teacher, we wish you to be healthy!

T. – Thank you. You have good wishes.

(T –P1– P2 – P3 – P4… - T)

T. – And now look at the pictures, read some of the sayings, proverbs and say what they are about. (pupils’ answers).

As you see, we are going to continue the theme of our lessons “Food”. We’ll speak about healthy and unhealthy food, table settings and recipes. Our today’s lesson is unusual. It is a lesson-competition.

3. Phonetic Drill to the topic.

Tongue Twisters. (Let’s begin with Tongue Twisters about food )

  1. Do you want a chicken?

Do you want a fish?

 Do you want an omelette on a dish?

 Please and thank you we can say

 When we want our food today.

 Do you want chips?

 Do you want rice?

   Do you want cutlets?

 I think they’re nice.

  Do you want spaghetti?

   Do you want beans?

  Do you want pizza?

   Say please, yes please.

  1. On Sunday I like steak and chips,

On Monday bread and cheese

 On Tuesday Coca Cola,

And pizza…Mm,yes, please.

 On Wednesday it’s spaghetti.

 And on Thursday eggs and fish.

On Friday I like sandwiches,

And ice-cream on a dish.

 But Saturday is my favorite day

Oh, yes. It’s very nice!

On Saturday it’s chicken…

Mmmm,salad, bread and rice.

   I like cheese and ham,

   I like milk and cakes,

I like plums and grapes,

 I like pears and apples,

  I like juice and candies,

 I like nuts and honey,

  It’s not funny!

II. Main part. Основна частина.

1.Presentation “Healthy Eating”.

T. – Let’s get acquainted with food which we must eat to be healthy. You will hear about food pyramids and learn about food groups.

Look at the screen. The name of the presentation is “Healthy Eating”.(перегляд презентації)

a)- Discussion of the presentation.

    -How many groups are there in Food Pyramid?(They are four)

 - What are they?

 - What do we need them for?

b) Choose the right group of products. (Робота з роздатковим матеріалом)

2.Presentation “Ten Rules for a Healthy Lifestyle”.

T. Now be ready to learn the rules that we should follow to have healthy lifestyle.

a) T. – The next task is to make “Health Code”.

We should have 2 teams. I’ll give each team a list of recommendations which we should follow or shouldn’t follow to be healthy.

The first team will tell us what rules we should follow to have good health and the second one – what we shouldn’t do.

You should tick the right and wrong points in your list.

  1. Eat fruit and vegetables.
  2. Eat too much sweet.
  3. Drink much water.
  4. Drink fizzy drinks.
  5. Sleep 7-8 hours.
  6. Avoid harmful habits.
  7. Do physical exercises.
  8. Clean your teeth once a day.
  9. Laugh more.
  10. Eat red meat and fat.
  11. Smoke.

T. – Are you ready? Let’s start with the things which we should do.

- The second team will read us what we shouldn’t do.

3. Cooking of the food (Presentation).

T. – Boys and girls, do you like watching TV programmes?

P. – Yes,we do.

T. – Do you like the competition “Майстер-Шеф”?

P. – Yes, we do.

T. – And today you have a surprise. Your classmates are the participants of the programme “Майстер-Шеф”. (На екрані діти з класу готують страви за рецептами (varenyky, “Greek” salad and a cake).

Діти голосують за кожного учасника смайликами(who has the  most smiliks with “12” is the winner. The most “11” – the second place, and the most “10” – the third one ).

T. – Let’s vote for…

    - We have winner. It is…

4. PT minute. Фізкультхвилинка.

T. – Are you tired? Let’s have a rest and sing  a song “Alouette, little Alouette.

5. Table Setting.

T. – Every person should be able to set the table. Can you do it?

P. – Yes, we can.

T. – Well, we have dinner and we need a tablecloth, a tableware(a fork, a knife, a spoon, a plate…)

Put each piece of a tableware on the correct place.

  • First put the dinner plate, then a soup bowl.
  • Put the fork to the left of the plate.
  • Put the knife to the right of the plate.
  • Put the spoon to the right of the knife.
  • Put the napkin to the left of the fork.
  • Put your bread plate to the left side.
  • Put your tea/coffee saucer to the right side.
  • A water glass goes above the knife.

T. Thank you, well done.

6. Relaxing Minute ( “Manners Song” ).

   T. – Let’s sing a song “Manners”

    P. – May I recite a poem “Help your mother”

    T. – Yes, please.

7. Speaking. Dialogues. Розвиток діалогічного мовлення.

T. – You had a task to prepare some dialogues on the topic of our lesson. Now you have an opportunity to present them. You are welcome.

a) At the café.

Ann – I think we should take chips and Coca-Cola. I like them.

Kate – Don’t you think that your choice is a bit unhealthy? We should order a vegetable salad and fruit juice.

Ann – I think it is boring. My mum treats me to fruit and vegetables every day. I’d like to eat something more delicious.

Kate – How about a “Fruit split”? you don’t eat it every day.

Ann – That’s Ok. Oh, it’s very tasty.

8. Vegetable and Fruit Riddles.

T. –Guess the Vegetable and Fruit Riddles.

Apple

I can be a red or green

I grow in the tree in the garden

I am tasty in autumn and in winter

What am I?

Cherry

I am small. I am red. I grow in the orchard. I am ripe in summer. My first letter is “C”. Children like jam with me. What am I?

I am tasty, if you boil or fry me. Don’t forget to peel me. I will be white you clean me. You like me with meat, fish. You can eat me every day. What am I?

Grapes

I am blue or green fruit with many small berries.

9. Jumbled Provebs.

T. – The next task is “Jumbled Proverbs”. We should have 2 teams. Each team will get the words for 3 proverbs. And you must put the words in a logical order. Which team will be the first?

Are you ready?

P. – Yes, we are.

 

a) Making up Proverbs.

1. Eat at pleasure, drink with measure.

2. The appetite comes with the eating.

3. One man’s meat is another man’s poison.

4. An apple a day keeps the doctor away.

5. Good health is above wealth.

6. Early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise.

b) Finding Ukrainian equivalents.

T. – The second task is to find Ukrainian equivalents to these English proverbs.

III Summarizing. Підсумки уроку.

1)T. –Summing up the results of our lesson, we should come to conclusion to eat wisely.

If you eat healthy food, you will feel great, have much energy to study, to get good marks.

I hope you will follow the healthy lifestyle. I wish you to be healthy.

2)T. –So, you worked hard today and you will get good marks…

3) Homework: make your crossword about “Healthy lifestyle”.
