КОНСПЕКТ УРОКУ

 

Тема: «Ласкаво просимо в Україну»

 

Цілі уроку:

 

Практична – практикувати учнів у діалогічному мовленні, читанні, говорінні та аудіювання по темі уроку;

Загальноосвітня – ознайомити їх з прислів’ям, віршем та національними символами України;

Розвиваюча – розвивати основні мовні навички учнів та їх соціокультурні компетенції.

Виховна – виховувати любов та гордість за Батьківщину.      

 

Оснащення уроку: підручник О. Карп’юк “English-6”, WB, зошит, прислів’я “There is no place like home”, вірш В. Стуса, текст “The National Symbols of Ukraine”та завдання на контроль розуміння прочитаного, Question-Words.

 

                                                            ХІД УРОКУ

 

I. ПІДГОТОВКА ДО СПРИЙНЯТТЯ ІНШОМОВНОГО МОВЛЕННЯ

1. Aim. (Оргмомент та мотивація).

T.: The topic of our today’s lesson is “WELCOME TO UKRAINE”. By the end of our lesson you should be able

- practice dialogical speaking and train putting up different types of questions;

- to improve your language skills (reading, auding, speaking and writing);

- to enlarge your knowledge of Ukraine;

- to behave as real citizens of Ukraine.

2. Warming-up. (Уведення в іншомовну атмосферу).

T.: a) Read the following idiom and explain it in English:

There is no place like home.

      b) Read the poem about our homeland, translate it into Ukrainian and learn by heart.

My dear friend, I’d like to speak of land

In which you must defend the slightest bend,

Where spreading is the steppe,

Where’s done the first your step,

Where mothers shortest nap

Was broken by your joyful clap.

        c) Write down (under teacher’s dictation).

NB: The Motherland is a place where a person was born.

 

II. ОСНОВНА ЧАСТИНА УРОКУ

1. Подання тексту для читання

1) Pre-reading activities.

a) Consult the dictionary:

Trident, background, to depict, coin, trinity, might, wisdom, folk, tale

b) Answer the questions:

- What do you know about the national symbols of our country?

- What is a symbol?

NB: A symbol is a simple shape or a picture that has a particular meaning or represents a particular idea.  

2) While-reading activities.

T.: Work in pairs. Read the text.

 

 

 

THE NATIONAL SYMBOLS OF UKRAINE

There are three main official symbols of Ukraine: its national emblem, flag, and anthem.

Our national emblem is a golden trident on a blue background. The trident is a symbol of power.

It’s about 1,000 years old. It was depicted on the coins of Volodymyr the Great (979-1015), the Grand Prince of Kyiv.

        Why was the trident chosen as an emblem of Ukraine?  The three points of the trident symbolize the trinity of life: Father, Mother, and Child. They mean Might, Wisdom and Love. 

        Besides, three is a magic number. We can find a lot of examples with this number in folk tales: three epic heroes, three wishes, three roads.

 

3) Post-reading activities.

T.: Decide if these statements are true (T) or false (F).

1. Our national symbol is a red star.

2. The trident is a symbol of power.

3. The trident is about 100 years old.

4. It was depicted on the coins of Volodymyr the Great.

5. The trident is a newly founded symbol.

6. The three points mean Love, Friendship and Success.

7. The number three is a magic number.

 

2. Oral Practice. Практикувати учнів у діалогічному мовленні.

1) Language Work. Тренувальна вправа.

Work in pairs. Ask as many questions as you can to get more information, using basic question words (ex. 73, p. 103). Before doing this activity let’s review a rhyme ‘Question-Words”.

What? – Який? Що?                                       How long? – Як довго?

When? – Коли?                                                 Чому? -  Why?

Where? – Де? Куди?                                        Не забувай!

 

2) Role-play. Створення ситуації спілкування.

a) Work in pairs. One of you is a foreigner and the other is a travel agent. The foreigner asks for a piece of information about Ukraine.

b) Role-play on the following situation in a group of four.

You have guests from Great Britain. They visit your school. You have a good opportunity to speak English. They ask questions about Ukraine and its people.

3) Making dialogues. Конструювання діалогів

a) Listening and reading of the dialogue. Ex. 1 p. 108

c) Acting out. Інсценування.

 

III. ЗАКЛЮЧНА ЧАСТИНА УРОКУ

1. Homework. Домашнє завдання. Індивідуальні завдання для Project Work.

2. Summarizing. Підведення підсумків.
