Today we are going to speak about some English traditions. Especially about Tea drinking in England.
By the way, do you know any other English traditions?
Look at the blackboard! Ознайомлення з новими ЛО: «scones, muffins, to brew, high tea, crumpets.»
(Розповідь вчителя про історію походження чаю.)
People first drank tea in China about 5000 years ago. Originally it was used as a medicine, then as a daily drink. It spread to Japan in the 3rd century A.D. Dutch and Portuguese traders brought tea from eastern Asia to Europe in the 1600s.
In 1657 this drink was sold for the first time in coffee houses in Great Britain. When the English started a tradition of tea drinking in the afternoon it became England's national drink. In the 17th and 18th centuries tea spread to British colonies overseas.
Nowadays, throughout the homes, tea shops and hotels of Britain, the custom of tea-time continues. The most common types of tea are black and green tea.
Answer my questions: T P1, P2
English people like to invite their friends to have tea with them.
On a certain day, perhaps once a month, the house is made very clean and fresh flowers are put in the rooms. Children are told not to leave their things about, and they are sent to their own room.
The guests arrive and soon the sitting-room is full of people, all talking. They talk about their homes, their families, their friends, clothes, the cost of things in the shops; they tell each other about their holiday plans, the plays, films and TV programmes they have seen, and sometimes about the things that other people have said and done. The conversation never stops.
- How is English tea made?
1 Boil the water.
2 Use basic teabags.
3 While the water is boiling, put a teabag in each cup.
4 Alternatively, warm the teapot with very hot water, and then add one teabag per person.
5 Pour boiling water over the teabag, and stir briefly.
6 WAIT!
7 Remove the teabag.
6 Add milk and sugar to taste, IF YOU LIKE.
7 Enjoy your tea!
6. Повторення правил чайного етикету, поведінки за столом:

1. As a hostess, you should greet your guests at the door and take their coats to hang.
2. Show them into the room where you are entertaining and introduce them to any guests that have already arrived.
3. Offer your guests a seat, or invite them to take part in conversation.
4. Offer your guest a drink.
5. Make sure you provide a spoon for each guest for stirring their sugar, as well as a spoon in the sugar bowl.
6. Make sure that you supply napkins. Ideally, these should be cloth, but it will not spoil your party if they are paper.
