LESSON

TOPIC: FOOD (FAMILY AND FRIEND 3 UNIT8)

OBJECTIVES:

-developing students’ speech habits;

-improving skills in using vocabulary and grammar;

-enhancing listening skills by watching an authentic video;

-developing writing skills;

-learning social skills;

-using life skills in real situation (going to the café);

-teaching healthy habits.

LEARNING OUTCOMES:  by the end of the lesson learners will be able to

- use I’d like …… Would you like…..?

- use the words on the topic FOOD;

- tell a story about Peppa;

- write the words on the topic;

- name and sound letters correctly;

- use can, have got, has got, do, don’t in questions and answers;

- distinguish healthy, unhealthy food;

- make up dialogues.

 

MATERIALS: video, pictures,  handouts, a ball, visual art.

                                                          PROCEDURE

I INTRODUCTION

  1.                    Greetings: SMILE, HUG, HIGH FIVE, SHAKE HANDS

 

  1.                    Calendar talking:

T:What day, month, season is it today?

 

  1.                    Practising am, is, are.

T: How are you, is he, is she ….today? Using visual art.

  1.                    Spelling and sounding words with phonics.

T: Spell the word! Read the word! Sound the word!

Cow, boy, horse, ball, shark.

 

II MAIN ACTIVITIES

1.Revising the verbs (activity game with a ball). Practising questions and short answers.

T: Can you swim? Do you like reading?

2. Working with cards on the topic Food. The teacher hands out the cards.

T: Is it a lemon? Have you (has he, she) got an apple?

3. Making up dialogues. Children have got pictures with lunch-boxes (their hw)

  P1—P2  They “share” things from their lunch-boxes with each other.

Would you like a, an, some…..?

I’d like a, an, some ……

  1.                    Team game. Going to the  school café YUMMY. On the blackboard the MENU of the café with pictures identifying different kinds of food.

The days of the week are in the wrong order. Ps put the days in the right order. Then one team puts the pictures of healthy food in the column with a happy smiley, another team- unhealthy food under a sad smiley. Then each team corrects the mistakes of their opponents.

  1.                    Running dictation. There is a list of words FAMILY AND FRIEND 3 UNIT 8 (lemon, melon, pasta, cereal, bread, cucumber, onion, meat)  in different parts of the room.

The task is to come up to the list as many times as they need and write down all the words in their exercise-books. The teacher corrects the mistakes.

 

  1.                    Checking the homework ( watching a cartoon Peppa Pig. Picnic.)
  1.                       children watch the video again;
  2.                      then the teacher pays attention to new words: a wasp, a picnic blanket, a picnic basket, to have a nap, a tummy;
  3.                       the kids are divided into 2 teams and put the images from the video in the right order;

  1.                      each team tells a cartoon story one by one;
