Мета:

    Практична:    а) тренувати навички монологічного мовлення по темі;

    Розвиваюча: розвивати увагу, мислення. стимулювати  інтерес учнів до вивчення англійської мови

    Виховна: виховувати відчуття значення музики в нашому житті, виховувати любов до музики, повагу до культури інших країн , до естетичних смаків.

   Освітня: ознайомлення з культурними надбаннями Великої Британії та прилучення учнів до культури країни (полікультурна компетентність).

І. Greeting.

 Yes, my dear children,  today we’ve got an unusual lesson: we are going to talk about music in Great Britain and about one of the most famous band in Britain, in UK in the USA and all over the world  about “The Beatles” is the “legendary four”.

Teacher: Let`s talk about the name of the group ”The Beatles”

 What do you think the word “Beatles” mean?

So, the name of the group is a combination of two words.

 

 

On the blackboard you can see a number of different words:

Beast-звір, beet-буряк, beat-бити, beautiful-красивий, bear-ведмідь, beef-яловичина,  beetles-жуки, bed-ліжко, be- бути.

Which words makes the name of the group? (Рs висловлюють думки)

Yes, these words are – beat and beetles (жуки-ударники).

 

Teacher: Well, children, now we know what does the word Beatles mean.

Now tell me please why they are often called “The Liverpool Four”?

Ps: Because they came from English town Liverpool and in this band were four members.

For a lot of people Liverpool is first of all associated with the Beatles, probably the most famous and successful pop-group the world has ever known.

 

Teacher:And now I give you a card, which contains some  information about Beatles. Your task is to read the text and to prepare a report according to this text. (Слайд №6,7)

The Beatles were an English rock band, started in Liverpool, England in 1960 . They are the most successful and influential band in the history of music.

The members of the band were John Lennon (guitar), Paul McCartney (bass guitar), George Harrison (guitar), Ringo Starr (drums).

Starting in 1956, John Lennon and several of his friends played in a British band called the Quarrymen. Over the next few years, the members of the band changed, and by 1960, the band was called the Beatles. They did not have their first hit until 1962. In February 1963 their song, "Please Please Me", reached the number 1 position on the British charts. 

They first came to the United States in 1964. They were met at the airport by thousands of  American teenagers. The Beatles were so popular that they were attacked by screaming fans everywhere they went around the world. The effect they had on their fans was known as 'Beatlemania', Beatles songs soon filled the top 5 places on the American top 40 chart.

The group has also won seven Grammy awards.

The most popular songs of the Beatles are «Yesterday», «Let it be», «Yellow submarine», «Obladi-Oblada», «Girl», «Come Together», «Hey, Jude!».

The Beatles broke up in 1970 because of the pressures of fame and each member becoming more independent both in their personal lives and musically.

Teacher:Some pupils prepare about John Lenon, Paul MacCartney, Ringo Stars and George Harrison. We are ready to listen you!

Pupil 1: John Lennon was born on the 9-th of October in 1940 in Liverpool. At 15 he met Paul McCartney, they created the songs. John Lennon was a poet, a composer, a soloist, a guitarist, a musician, a writer and one of the greatest man in popular music. (Слайд №8)

 

 

 

Pupil 2: Paul McCartney was born in 1942. In 1960 the Beatles was named.

Paul McCartney and John Lennon had melodic bass lines “Yesterday” was one of the most popular song. Paul McCartney was a poet, a drummer, a soloist, a guitarist, a musician, a producer, and a writer. From all the Beatles Paul McCartney made the most successful solo career. (Слайд №9)

 

 

Pupil 3: The youngest of four children, George Harrison was born at the 25-th of February in 1943. In September 1954, George began attending the Liverpool Institute where Paul McCartney was a student. They become friends.

He was a musician, a composer, a guitarist, a soloist, a gardener, a film producer and a record producer. (Слайд №10)

 

 

Pupil 4: Ringo Star was born on the 7-th of July in 1940.

Drummer Ringo Star joined the Beatles when they were the top band in Liverpool and England. By August 1962 Ringo Star was in and the Beatles were born. Ringo Star wrote “Yellow Submarine” together with

У сучасній попкультурі за плечима кожного успішного виконавця ховається геніальний менеджер. Або продюсер. Або одразу обидва. Написати пісню, варту того, щоб її крутили по радіо, замало.

БРАЯН ЕПШТЕЙН

БРАЯН ЕПШТЕЙН – англійський підприємець, менеджер гурту The Beatles з початку їх кар’єри у 1962 до його смерті у 1967 році.  Завдяки діловим угодам, які Браян знаходив для музикантів, та створеного ним іміджу Beatles здобули світову славу. 

The Beatles були справжніми новаторами та першопрохідцями у світі популярної музики. Так само, як і їх комерційне керівництво. Ніхто до Браяна Епштейна не виводив гурт із малолюдних андеграундних клубів до всесвітньої слави.

Невідомий аматорський гурт з Ліверпулю найняв Браяна своїм менеджером у 1962 році. Йому вдалося запевнити парубків, що цілий світ закохається в них. Метою менеджера було вивести музикантів з меж одного англійського міста й націлитися на міжнародну сцену.

Перш за все, Браян підібрав гуртові імідж. З хуліганів у шкіряних куртках із цигарками в зубах Beatles перетворилися на чотирьох стильних хлопців з однаковими зачісками у вишуканих костюмах. Пізніше цей образ стане культовим.

Браян домігся для гурту контракту зі студією звукозапису, й уже наступного року Beatles виступали перед британською королівською сім’єю. Епштейн бачив потенціал у тих речах, де ще ніхто з індустрії не бував. Але найголовніше, він не боявся стукати в усі двері. Менеджер знімав гурт у фільмах, затягував на телебачення, розуміючи, як і на чому зіграє харизма та особистості учасників.

На жаль, слава часто тягне за собою залежності. Епштейн боровся з алкоголізмом та наркоманією, але в 1967-му у віці 32 років несподівано помер від передозування.

За словами Пола Маккартні, “якщо хтось і був п’ятим бітлом, це точно був Браян”.

Після смерті Браяна успіхи гурту пішли на спад. За три роки Beatles розпалися як колектив. Причиною вважають міжособистісні стосунки Маккартні й Леннона та розхожість інтересів учасників, адже саме Епштейн направляв і тримав Beatles на плаву.

The Beatles мають найбільшу кількість альбомів, що посідали перші місця в британських топчартах. А ще вони продали значно більше синглів, аніж будь-який інший гурт. Цікаво, що оригінальний контракт гурту з менеджером було продано на аукціоні в Лондоні у 2008 році більш як за 310 тисяч доларів.

У 1988 році The Beatles були введені до Зали слави рок-н-ролу. А їхнього менеджера Браяна Епштейна також було номіновано через 50 років після його смерті, у 2014 році.

ДЖОРДЖ МАРТІН

ДЖОРДЖ МАРТІН – англійський музичний продюсер, аранжувальник і композитор. Він був продюсером гурту The Beatles у 1960-ті роки та спродюсував майже всі платівки гурту. Після розпаду The Beatles Мартін працював з окремими учасниками і з багатьма іншими виконавцями.

Мартін мав професійну освіту Лондонської музичної школи, де вивчав композицію та оркестрацію, фортепіано та гобой. Ще до бітлів він записував джазових артистів, шотландські танцювальні колективи та комедійні альбоми.

Усі ці широкі знання та досвід Мартін застосував у роботі з Beatles. Його ідеї та бачення мали вплив на фінальне звучання пісень гурту. За спогадами учасників, кожну нову композицію Beatles презентували Мартіну. Продюсер оцінював її не тільки з погляду комерційної привабливості, а й звертався до власного бачення музики.

“Джордж Мартін буквально винайшов професію музичного продюсера. Він винайшов той процес мислення, коли ти допускаєш можливість існування ідеї в реальності”, — вважає продюсер Radiohead Найджел Годріч.

Роль Мартіна в колективній роботі над музикою ще більше зросла, коли гурт відмовився від концертів, зосередившись на роботі в студії звукозапису. Наприклад, додати струнні до пісень “Yesterday” та “Eleanor Rigby” було ідеєю саме Мартіна. На деяких записах, як у “In My Life”, він фігурував як піаніст.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Beatles were true innovators and pioneers in the world of popular music. As well as their commercial management. No one, until Brian Epstein, took a band from sparsely populated underground clubs to worldwide fame.

 

 

An unknown amateur band from Liverpool hired Brian as their manager in 1962. He managed to assure the boys that the whole world would fall in love with them. The manager's goal was to take the musicians out of one English city and aim for the international stage. First of all, Brian picked up the band's image. From hooligans in leather jackets with cigarettes in their teeth, the Beatles turned into four stylish guys with the same hairstyles in fancy suits. Later, this image will become iconic.

 

 

Brian secured a contract for the group with a recording studio, and the next year the Beatles performed in front of the British royal family.

 

GEORGE MARTIN is an English music producer, arranger and composer. He was the producer of The Beatles in the 1960s and produced almost all of the band's records. After the breakup of The Beatles, Martin worked with individual members and with many other artists.

 

The Beatles have the most number one albums in the UK charts. And they've sold more singles than any other band. Interestingly, the band's original contract with the manager was sold at an auction in London in 2008 for more than $310,000.
