Christmas games time!

How different countries celebrate New Year. In the USA people count down from 10 to 0. After that they kiss the person who is next to them. The most famous place to do that is Time Square in New York. Italians eat lentils at their dinner. They also have to throw away old things. This tradition means good luck for the New Year. In Spain people have a big family dinner. At midnight they eat twelve grapes. They also wear something red to welcome the New Year. Chinese celebrate their New Year’s Eve in February. They make rituals against bad spirits, using fireworks and noise. In Brazil people go to the beach. They sing and dance and they throw flowers into the water to honour Lemanja, an African Goddess. One of the most famous places to do this is in Copacabana beach. There is also a big firework there. In England people eat a typical dessert – “the Christmas pudding”. Each family has their personal recipe of this. In the Philippines people open all doors and windows in the house in order to allow negative energy to leave and good energy to enter.
