8th Grade Diagnostic Test
Floods damaged more than 1,000 homes in the Guttersby area yesterday. This was after Storm Nigel brought heavy rain, thunder and lightning late on Saturday night. The rain caused the River Wendel to rise by 3 metres on Sunday. This is the maximum height the river has reached since 2000, when it reached 5.4 metres. The weather forecast is for more bad weather for the next few days. We have a foggy start to tomorrow morning, so drivers be careful on the roads. It’s important for cyclists to be careful on the roads, too. On Wednesday we expect to see snow and ice. This will be especially hard for people in the north of the country because of very low temperatures and even more flooding. The government is telling people to move upstairs in their homes and take water, food and power banks with them. Then, wait for help to arrive. |
