Essay "Nature needs our help!"

I would like to begin my essay by the words of a well-known author Paulo Coelho. His phrase made me to change the way of my life:” How can we be so arrogant? The planet is, was and will always be stronger than us. We cannot destroy it; if we cross a line, it will take care of erasing us from its surface and continue to exist. Why have not we started talking about how to save ourselves from being destroyed by the planet?”  The environmental protection is one of the most actual problems nowadays. Even in times of war we must think about it, am I right? Our teachers, mothers or grandmothers tell us that the Earth gives people mineral resources, rivers, seas, oceans, forests, fields and mountains and we must save these, because it makes the foundation of industrial and agricultural production, and everyone should understand that. Unfortunately, a lot of people do not want to understand it, that’s why often do things which pollute lands and waters greatly. They do not comprehend that it is very dangerous because it hurts the health of the people and provoke different diseases. After thinking about it, I decided to help our nature. Therefore, now I want to tell you about rules which help to save the environment.

Firstly, during the last 5 years I have been sorting garbage. Plastic: candy wrappers, packaging of semi-finished products or a plastic bottle of milk. Paper: flour packaging, unnecessary notebooks, or packaging of care products. And general wastes, for example vegetable peels, eggshells or even glass. It is easy to do. In the kitchen under the sink, we have two boxes, and when you want to throw away something, you should only choose a right box and that’s all. The next action is to put these boxes and go outside to special containers for plastic and general garbage wastes. But I have never forgotten when I tried to teach my father doing this. It was funny because it was a small lecture where he was hearing the information about what these products were made of. So, this first rule is one of great chances to save our Earth.

Secondly, every season I hand over the wastepaper and it has a lot of advantages, for example it is very useful for our environment, because these papers are processed, and we do not need to cut down trees. Also, you can receive money, I comprehend that it is cool when you do good things, and after can earn money. In addition, my school has a considerable tradition. Every year in summer all pupils hand over the wastepaper, for example unnecessary notebooks or different small papers. Besides, our teachers give us old notebooks and we have a special task: to tear out blank sheets and put the written ones in the wastepaper. It is unsurpassed feelings when you can spend an excellent time with friends and to help our nature. Do you agree with me?!

Thirdly, I want to tell you about my extraordinary hobby – gardening. Furthermore, it is also a great idea to save the environment. I prefer to plant flowers: roses, tulips and peonies. At home I have a lot of different flowers in pots. I wrote a special schedule, how and when to care for them. In fact, my granny tells me some interesting things, which help me to save my small garden on the windowsill. That’s why I grown a green and purple salad, dill and parsley.  In summer I often help my grandmother in the garden. She grows vegetables: potatoes, tomatoes, onions, cucumbers, carrots, garlics, peppers, pumpkins, zucchini, cabbages and beets; greens: dill, purple and green salad, parsley and arugula; berries: cherries, grape, raspberry, strawberries, plums, apricots and gooseberry; and fruits: apples and pears. This deal also has a lot of advantages. You can communicate with relatives. Now we live in adversity time and can’t speak a lot with them, because have problems with connection and daily affairs. Now, most of us has a distance learning or work, yet this deal helps to be more outside. Finally, the main advantage for me is that you can have your products, about which information is known, where and how had it grown. And only imagine, how it can help soil and air.

The fourth rule is to clean some places outside. I know, it is really amusing time. I made these challenges this my friends and classmates. One year ago, our school proposed us to go in the park and to clean areas. We put shovels, rakes, rubber gloves, garbage bags and good mood. We listened to music, sang songs and communicated. It was a great experience and even time for relax, because you do things, which you want. It is not a hard work, you only need to put garbage and to sort it, to sweep leaves, to remove fallen branches and maybe to grow trees or flowers. So, make challenges and talk about it with your family and friends.

My mother told me about the fifth rule. You should buy things, which you really need. Nowadays we prefer to buy something, which like, but after understanding, that it was a mistake. Thereby, throw these products or clothes way. I think, everyone had the same problem, and I am not an exception. My mother and I prefer to go shopping, we like to buy clothes and a lot of products, and after we do not have a time to eat. Nevertheless, now we have a rule – to make a list. To be honest, often to go to the supermarket is my deal, because I know where the best variant to buy vegetables, fruits, meat or sweets. My family do not use plastic bags. I always put special small ecological bags. I believe, we made a right choice, because plastic bags kill our Earth. People, when will you understand it?

The sixth rule – chose an ecological transport. We are teenagers, have a lot of energy and goals. In every season the best variant to go somewhere on foot. It develops endurance, sport skills and even useful for environment, because buses, cars, motorbikes release harmful gases, and it is a big ecological problem. I hope, everyone agrees with my opinion.  Additionally, you can choose a bicycle. It will be one of the best choices in your life, because it has a lot of advantages. Essentially, to ride a bike is very difficult for legs, because you ride only with its help, however it is a great to kick up legs, if you do not like to go to the gym. Furthermore, you can ride to everywhere, that’s why it is a possibility to spend a considerable time with friends. For example, to go on a picnic, since we are teenagers and spend more time in phones, nevertheless we must spend more time outside. And now I want to fil you dictionary with funny stories. It also depends on my father and rules, which help to save the environment, namely, how my father taught me to ride a bike.  It was 10 years ago in the village. We were riding by the pond, and do you know, what happened next? Yes, I felt into the pond. Can you imagine that? I can. Hopefully, it was not hurt, it was just funny situation. But after that situation I have never ridden a bike, I prefer to go on foot. For this reason, I develop my sport skills and my endurance.

And what about the seventh rule? One of the main rules is to save water and electricity. Nowadays we live in difficult times. There is a war outside. Every day people hear explosions, air alarms and helicopters. We have problems with water, electricity and gas. Today is December, the weather is frosty, the apartment is cold. Steadily, we cannot save water and electricity, because almost all days we stay without it, and when we have light we should wash, clean, cook and another household chores. I know next month we will win, and I will continue saving water and electricity. It is easy to do that. For example, when you clean your teeth, pour water into a glass, but do not constantly open the tap. Also, do not forget to turn of the light in rooms, electrical appliances that you do not need. The good option is to make a schedule. For example, every day in the afternoon you turn off all electricity and read a book. I think, it is a great rule, which we can have in our life. After our win I want to do this small rule, because now I understand that I can live without light, I need only heat.

The next environmental problem is that people prefer to buy a real Christmas tree. From December to January, we have different with holidays. In Ukraine people have a tradition, after the nineteenth of December (It is a St. Nikolas Day), we like to decorate the Christmas tree. That’s why from the fifteenth of December Ukrainians go to special markets to buy it. My family also like to have in the apartments a real Christmas tree, because you feel this New Year’s atmosphere with the smell of pine and oranges. But three years ago, my mother and I decided to buy the artificial Christmas tree and I believe that it also was a great choice, how to help the environment. Just imagine, how many Christmas trees do people cut down? Why do it? Who benefits from this? I think, only sellers can make money and that’s all. And now continue this short story, after people buy these real Christmas trees, decorate it and after three weeks throw it away. I think, it is a terrible choice to buy real Christmas trees. And do not forger, if you will buy an artificial, you can save your money for nest years. So, this rule can help our nature and our wallet.

And what do you know about ecology of communication? Sure, it is not about the environmental protection, but also very interesting and important. Have you noticed that people use a lot of profanity? In addition, we call it “the words parasites”. A lot of teenagers think, if you communicate using these words, then you are the coolest in the neighborhood. Do you agree with it? For example, I do not agree with it. As for me, I do not like hearing not cultural speech. Sure, it can be emotions, but you must control it, do not you? I understand that firstly it can be difficult but try to mind what you say. Try to find, how you can replace these words. For example, to change a profanity to general words: flower, fruit or another variant.

So, do not forget about the environmental protection, it is our present and future. My teacher often says: “Think globally, art locally. The road to civilization is paved with cans. Nothing is lost in nature, except nature itself!”  Not to lose sight of the fact, only we can make the future of our Earth and save it.
