Мета:

• повторити, активизувати тематичну лексику; відпрацьовувати навички читання, аудіювання та усного мовлення;

• удосконалювати вміння ефективно взаємодіяти з іншими учнями в парах, групах підчас роботи в стилі “Talk show; заохотити учнів висловлювати особисту думку;

• виховувати любов до своєї школи, повагу до однокласників, шанобливе відношення до  вчителів та їхньої роботи.

Очікувані результати на кінець уроку: учні повинні навчитися критично осмислювати інформацію, вміти висловлювати своє відношення до школи, вчителів, однокласників.

Обладнання: аудиозапись, картки для самостійної, групової роботи.

Procedure

I. Організаційний момент.

1. I`m glad to see you! How are you? ……. 

Psychological adaptation: Let's turn to each other, take each other's hands and say: "Good morning, my friend!

I'm glad to see you! You are the best! And I am «the best» too :)!"

How do you feel ?

2. Warm-up. Answer the questions. “Microphone”.

Do you love your school? Are the rules strict there? What is your favourite subject?

Do you want to wear a school uniform? Do you usually have much homework to do?

3. T: The topic of our lesson is “School in my life”. Today we are going to read, listen and discuss information about our school, lessons and the importance of а teacher’s work. We’ll also speak about the place of school in your life. /+ motivation/

4. Let`s divide into two groups and play. Task: name  the most possible words on the subject “School”.

II. Основна частина уроку 

  • 1. Vocabulary practice + reading @speaking.

T: We have received a letter from one English boy. You will read an e-mail, but the 1st let`s look at the words and repeat after me:  a waste of time • boring • by heart • discover • do without • events • excellent • field trips • look forward • miss • mix • outing • take part in + translate

Task: Read this e-mail and fill in the gaps with the words below +  What does Jordan tell about his school life and his favourite subject?

  • It will be two rows - girls and boys. Boys will do from the first to the fifth sentences, and the girls from the sixth to the twelfth.

 

 

 

 

 

 

  Hi, Bill,

   Some children say that school is (1)... and (2) ... . But I don’t agree with them.

I like school and on holiday I (3) ... my friends and teachers and I always (4) ...

to school.

   Our school life is interesting. We have got a lot of interesting after- school

 (5) ... during the year. We (6) ... sports competitions. We often go on (7) ... to do

tasks for History and Geography. Each term we go on (8) ... to interesting museums.

 I do well in many subjects but my favourite is History. I can’t say I like English because we have to learn a lot (9) ... . I think I can (10) ... English.

  • 2. T: What does the word school mean? … Yes, this is the place where we get knowledge. Generally, school is students and teachers. Now let`s think about our teachers. Listen to some of the teachers` qualities. Say what is the teacher?

  • T: Do you have problems at school?

        Who or what, generally, makes you feel good/bad at school?

        Do you have bullying at school?

        Do you have a feeling that somebody picks on you? 

        What should you do in difficult situations?

  • 4. a) Listen to the dialogue “School’s not a place for mobile phones” and think  if you agree or disagree with those girls? ♫♫♫                      Dialogue

Sarah: I always leave my mobile phone at home. I think school’s not a place for mobile phones.

Celia: I don’t think so. What if we have to call our parents during the break?

Sarah: We can use the public phone. If we have our mobiles we forget ourselves and start sending messages.

   b) *T: Can students use mobile phones on the lesson? Do you use them during your lessons? Do your teachers sometimes confiscate mobile phone during class? 

T: Of course you can’t! They influence to the central nervous system. This problem is caused by electromagnetic fields. This is called "radio wave disease." It is bad for your health

  • 5. T: For me, school is the second home. I work here, I have many good friends - teachers. I am happy to communicate with students. Our school is comfortable, clean and bright. I like my English classroom.

  • 6. a) T: At home you read the information about two schools. Translate them into Ukrainian, please.

                        What do you think about the first and the second school? What school is better? Why?

                 b) I have good news for you. This is a new young teacher. Let me introduce him. He wants to ask you

                       some questions about your school life. Ex.8, p.104

                       For example : 1 Can you say that school is your second home? + Give your reasons.

III. Заключна частина уроку

  •  Summary Speaking  Do ex.7, p. lO4. Agree or disagree with the reasons why children go to school.
  • Homework Make a mini - poster about the school of your dream. On page 105 you can find File for “My Perfect school”.  / marks+ comments/     Good luck! 

 

    

  • Additional task

PS:  Listen to the suggestions made by some boys and girls. Are they right or not? Give reasons for your arguments. What do you want in your school else?

  • Add your own, write down them. 

For example:

More educational excursions should be arranged.

The school should invite a guest speaker every week.

Uniform should not be compulsory at school.

A school orchestra should be formed.
