Урок присвячений темі “History of Boarding School” та знайомить учнів з історією й особливостями навчання в школах-інтернатах у різні історичні періоди. Під час уроку учні працюють з тематичним текстом, дізнаються про умови навчання, побут і правила, які існували в школах у минулому, та порівнюють їх із сучасною освітою. Особливу увагу приділено введенню та закріпленню тематичної лексики, пов’язаної зі шкільним життям, навчанням, правилами, розпорядком дня та побутом учнів. Нові слова використовуються в усному мовленні та під час виконання лексичних завдань. Граматична частина уроку присвячена конструкції “used to”, яка вживається для опису звичних або повторюваних дій і станів у минулому, що більше не є актуальними. Учні опрацьовують стверджувальні, заперечні та питальні речення й застосовують граматичну конструкцію під час обговорення особливостей шкільного життя в минулому. Урок поєднує історичний та культурологічний матеріал із практикою англійської мови, сприяє розвитку навичок читання, говоріння та порівняння минулого із сучасністю. Очікувані результати: учні зможуть розповідати про особливості шкільного життя в минулому, використовувати тематичну лексику та правильно вживати конструкцію “used to” для опису минулих звичок і станів.

3. READING: A Quick History of Boarding Schools

Centuries ago, the first boarding schools started in European monasteries. Monks taught young boys how to read, write, and pray.

By the 1800s, boarding schools became very popular in Great Britain. The British Empire was growing fast, and it needed disciplined young people to become soldiers, officers, and leaders.

Life at these schools was not easy. The rules were very strict, the bedrooms were cold, and sports like rugby were mandatory to build character.

Today, modern boarding schools are very different. They are comfortable, high-tech, and usually co-educational. Students from all over the world attend them to prepare for top universities.
