PROCEDURE
I. INTRODUCTION
1. Proverb Work & Warm-up
The teacher discusses the role of school and education with students.
Teacher: After home, school is the place where pupils spend a lot of time. School is not only a place of education, it is a place where pupils develop their personal skills. Some people say that school is your second home. What do you think of it? Do you agree with this opinion?
Discussion of Chinese proverbs:
“Teachers open the door but you must enter by yourself.”
“Education is light. Lack of it is darkness.”
Teacher: Can you comment and explain their meaning?
Pupil 1: For a clever and educated person all doors are open, he can find a good job and make a wonderful career, become a famous politician or a scientist.
Pupil 2: A person who isn't clever and educated will live in darkness, will not be able to study at the university or to have a job where he can earn much money.
Teacher: As for me, I totally agree with the proverb. Only educated people are interesting to communicate with, they are useful for our country. Of course, without attending school it's very difficult to get knowledge in different spheres of life.
2. Brainstorming
Teacher: What words are associated in your mind with the word «education»?
Possible answers: study, school, career, books, university, learn, knowledge, good job, etc.
