Мета: ввести нові лексичні одиниці, вчити їх правильно вживати у мовленні, розвивати вміння учнів логічно та  послідовно викладати власні думки іноземною мовою; поглибити знання учнів про види спорту, правила гри у спортивні ігри; розвивати автентичний слух, пам’ять, увагу, розвивати зв’язне монологічне мовлення; виховувати позитивне ставлення до вивчення англійської мови, до занять спортом, дотримання правил здорового способу життя

Обладнання: мультимедійний проектор, презентація до уроку, картки із завданнями, картинки із зображенням видів спорту, мікрофон.

Хід уроку

І. Початок уроку.

  1.                 Організаційний момент. Привітання. (Greeting).
  •              Good afternoon, dear children. How are you today? I see you are in a good mood, full of energy and ready for the lesson.
  1.                 Мовна зарядка. Уведення в іншомовну атмосферу. (Warming up).
  •              Listen the poem:

I like riding by bicycle

I’m fond of playing chess

My friend is good at judo

We are keen as you can guess

The proverb reads for everybody

«A sound mind in a sound body»

A sound mind in a sound body.

(У здоровому тілі – здоровий дух.)

  •              Бесіда за змістом вірша (Discussion)
  •              What kinds of sport were mentioned in the poem?
  •              Are you fond of playing chess?
  •              Do you like to ride a bike?
  •              How do you understand the proverb «A sound mind in a sound body»?
  •    Possible answers:
  •    S1: I think, we must do all to be healthy.
  •    S2: To my mind, physically inactive people get old earlier than those who does exercises.
  •    S3: I think that healthy person has healthy body and healthy mind.

ІІ. Основна частина уроку

  1.               Оголошення теми та завдань уроку(Aims).
  •              Today we have an unusual lesson. We are going to speak about  sport, kinds of sport and rules of playing different sports; we’ ll  revise and enrich vocabulary on the topic;  develop our listening, reading, speaking and grammar skills; we are going to motivate people to do sports and communicate with each other.
  1.               Активізація вивченого лексичного матеріалу.
  •              Let’s repeat the words. As you can see, there are various kinds of sport. So, you have some minutes to memorize pictures, and then I’ll give you cards. You should name the sport and divide the cards  into two groups. In the first column there will be words, which are sports, in the second – words, which mean games.

  1.          Введення нової лексики (Vocabulary presentation)
  •              All sports  we can divide into groups. Let’s read the words and pictures and try to guess their translation:

  •              Water sports

- Name sports and games to each group.

When do we use…?

GO – if you speak about sport ending  in – ing.

           (e.g. I go swimming.)

PLAY – if you speak about ball games  (or chess).

             (e.g. I play football.)

DO – if you speak about other sports.

             (e.g. I do athletics.)

  •    Now let’s split into groups. Take one of the sticks and choose your partner on the same colour. Look at the screen and let’s divide sports into three columns

  2. It is a very popular game in England and in Ukraine. The players kick the ball with their feet. The game lasts 90 minutes and has two halves. The players try to score a goal. (Football)
  3. It is a very beautiful kind of sport. The sportsmen do some exercises and dance to music on the ice. The dancers have very nice costumes on. (Figure – skating)
  4. A game in which the players use rackets to hit a small soft ball over a  net (tennis)
  5. The sport of moving through the water in a boat without sails. (rowing)

Sport is very popular in my family. My Dad goes jogging every morning in the park.
I do morning exercises and ride a bike. My mother attends a fitness club twice a
week. On Saturday morning we go to the swimming pool together. Swimming is the
best sport activity to feel strong. In spring and in summer I often play badminton with
my friends on the sports ground. It's very exciting. We have a lot of fun.
I am absolutely sure that only sport can help people survive in the modern world.

Is Sport So Important for Us?

   I am Alison and I am not very fond of sports. I’m a bit plump and it is difficult for me to run and jump. I don’t like to compete, but I like to watch sports on TV. Best of all I like watching figure skating. I some­times go skating myself.

   I am Peter. Sport plays a great role in my life. I love every kind of sports — football, hockey, volleyball and basketball. I also play chess and I love to play football. I go to our local football club every spare minute and my dream is to become a football player. I also watch foot­ball on TV a lot.

   I am Ann. I am not crazy about sports, but I think it is very im­portant to keep in good form and stay healthy. I want to become a model, so I take great care about my body. I go jogging every day, and I attend fitness room three times a week. When I have the time, I also attend classes of aerobics, but they are quite expensive, so I can’t go as often as I want.

   My name is Alex. I don’t understand people who think only about sports and physical perfection of their body or watch others doing the same on TV. Such people miss out a lot in their lives. It is much more fun to train brains. In the modern world people do not need muscles, diffi­cult things can be done by machines. I’m happy sitting on my sofa with a book or in front of the computer.
