Topic: Animals

Objective:

  • Expand students' vocabulary related to topic.
  • Develop  communication skills through dialogues and monologues.
  • Foster creative thinking and imagination.
  • Cultivate respect for family and its members.

Equipment: English textbook, handouts, blackboard

Procedure:

  1. Warm-up (5 minutes)

TASK 1

Teacher asks students to share their favorite animals and why is it such. Teacher introduces simple adjectives to describe animals (e.g., big, small, fast, slow, cute, funny). Teacher writes the adjectives on the board and asks students to give examples of animals that fit each description.

TASK 2

Teacher plays a game where you describe an animal and students guess which animal it is.

TASK 3 Creating Sentences

Teacher models how to create simple sentences about animals using the vocabulary learned. For example: "The cat is small and cute. The lion is big and strong." Teacher asks students to practice creating their own sentences in pairs or small groups.

TASK 4 Animal Drawing

 Teacher divides students into groups, then gives each group a piece of paper and markers and asks each group to draw their favorite animal and label it with the correct English word. Teacher asks students to share their drawings and explain why they chose that animal.

TASK 5"Zoo"

Teacher divides the class into teams. Each team should describe an animal they saw at the zoo. The other teams must guess which animal it is.

 

TASK 6"Magic Box"

Teacher prepares a small box with various items related to animals (e.g., feathers, shells, a bone). Teacher takes out one item at a time and asks students to guess which animal it belongs to.

 

TASK 7"What's Changed?"

Teacher places cards with different animals on a table, gives students a minute to memorize their location, then asks them to close their eyes while she/he switches a few cards. Students should name the changes that have occurred.
