STORY TIME. LISTENING AND WRITING SKILLS DEVELOPMENT.

Objectives:

  • to develop speaking skills
  • to improve listening skills
  • to improve reading skills
  • to educate politeness and kindness
  • to develop positive relationship between pupils

 

Outcomes:

  • pupils can understand the information from the video file and do the post-listening activities
  • pupils can recognize and use the active vocabulary
  • they can communicate with the classmates about the topic
  • they can read the text in roles  
  • they can describe the pictures in written and oral forms

 

Equipment:

Computer (presentation), flashcards, pictures, samples of activities, pupil’s books, copybooks.

  • Good afternoon pupils!
  • Good afternoon teacher!
  • I’m glad to see you
  • We are glad to see you too
  • How are you today?
  1. THE ORGANIZATION OF THE LESSON

Children, please, check what you have on your desks. You will need:

a pupil’s book

a copybook

a pencil-case with your pens and pencils

  1. WARMING UP

Questions about the weather, seasons and clothes which we wear in different seasons.

  1. THE MAIN PART OF THE LESSON
  1. Active Vocabulary practice.

Children look at the flashcards and repeat after the teacher. Then they look on the slide and answer the questions. After they do a crossword.

  1. Pre-listening Activity

Children look at the pictures on the page 68 and answer the questions about the text.

  1. While-listening Activity

While listening to the text, children have to put pictures into the right order.

  1. Post-listening Activity

Children read the moral of text on the backside of the pictures.

  1. Reading Practice

Children read the text in roles and do exercise 2.

  1. Relaxation
  2. Writing Practice

Children read the dialogues on the slide and write their own dialogues using one item of clothing in copybooks.

Children, are you kind to your friends?

Do you help your mum or dad?

It’s great!

  1. SELF-EVALUATION
    • you spoke about the story events using the active vocabulary
    • you listened to the different audio files and answered the questions
    • you read a story about kindness
