I. INTRODUCTION.
T: Good morning, everybody! What's the weather like today?
T: I've got an idea! Let's ask Mr Sun to warm our classroom and everybody here!
Song "mgr. Golden Sun"
Ps: Oh Mr Sun, Sun, mgr. Golden Sun,
Can you please shine down on me?
Oh Mr Sun, Sun, mgr. Golden Sun,
You are hiding behind the tree.
These little children are asking you,
Please come out so we can play with you.
Oh Mr Sun, Sun, mgr. Golden Sun,
Can you please shine down on,
Please shine down on me?
II. WARMING-UP.
T: I hope you know that our world is very big. Earth is our home. But it's a home not only for people but animals, birds, fish, insects and other creatures. Do you love animals, children?
Ps. Yes, we do!
T: I love them too. So, today we will speak about "Animals World". Will you watch a short film and try to remember as many animals as you can!
(Film "African Animals")
T: Now, let us see, who was attentive? Did you see a lion?
P. Yes, I did.
T: Did you see a monkey?
P. No, I didn't.
III. MAIN PART.
1. Speaking.
T: And now I would like you to talk about some wild animals. (On the screen there appear pictures of a whale, camel, panda, hippo, penguin, snake, parrot, and crocodile)
P. Whales live in the sea but they are not fish, they are mammals. They are the biggest animals in the world. I think whales are very beautiful!
P: Camels live in deserts of Asia and Africa. They are strong animals. Camels can live without water for a week. They help people to carry heavy bags.
(Pupils tell about all the animals one by one)
T: Thank you! It was great! And now, will you listen to the song "Animals Parade"? Try to remember all the animals and don't forget to count them!
The animals walk two by two,
Hooray! Hooray!
The animals walk two by two,
Hooray! Hooray!
The animals walk two by two,
The lions, the tigers, the elephants too.
And they all stand under the tree
Just to get out of the rain.
The camels, the hippos, the crocodiles too.
The bears, the penguins, the pandas too.
The zebras, the monkeys, the kangaroos too.
T: Write down the animals you heard.
T: Are you ready? How many animals were there in the parade?
P. Twelve!
T: Right you are! Can you name them?
P: Lions, tigers, elephants, camels, hippos, crocodiles, bears, penguins, pandas, zebras, monkeys, kangaroos.
T: Let us check! Look at the screen! (The names of animals are on the screen)
2. Project presentation
T: I know that some of you have prepared projects about your favourite animal, your pet or some interesting facts about animals. Who wants to be the first?
Possible answers. (Pictures of the animals are demonstrated on the screen)
P: I would like to tell you some interesting facts about animals.
Rabbits can live five years, sheep can live twelve years, cats can live thirteen years, dogs can live fifteen years, goats can live fifteen years, cows and pigs can live twenty-five years, and horses can live thirty years;
Once there was a cat that lived thirty-three years. There was a cat that had thirteen kittens. Do you know that cats love their homes? If you get a new home and take your cat with you, it can run away to its old home!
It's amazing but mice can sing! Just have a look at this picture.
P: I would tell you about American pets.
American Pets
Americans have got a lot of pets. Their pets are members of their families. Many people have got dogs, cats, birds, fish, rabbits and even snakes as their pets. And a lot of classrooms have got special places for small pets. Schoolchildren learn to take care of their pets at school, as they have small pets, such as frogs, hamsters or fish, in their classrooms.
Discovery Channel often shows documentaries about rescue of domestic animals. Some masters forget to feed their pets or to give them enough water, or even have them locked in cars for a long time. In this case, members of special teams save suffering animals and bring them to vets.
The American Society for the Preventing of Cruelty to Animals protects animals and takes care of them. This society punishes people who are cruel to animals.
P: I have got a pet and I will sing a song about it. Can you guess what I've got?
I lie in the sun for days and upon the sun I gaze,
Lie for days; lie for days and upon the sun I gaze!
Crocodile-dile swims on by, rhino-rhino comes to spy,
Only I lie for days and upon the sun I gaze!
Lion-cub is crawling near, trying everything to hear,
Only I lie for days and upon the sun I gaze!
T: Well, What pet has Nastya got?
P: It's a turtle!
P: Teacher, can we act our project?
T: You are welcome!
(Two boys act a short conversation in the railway carriage)
P1: A nice day, isn't it?
P2: It is. (reading a newspaper)
P1: Is it your box?
P2: It is.
P1: It looks heavy.
P2: It is.
P1: It has got holes, I see.
P2: Yes.
P1: What are the holes for?
P2: Air. (stops reading and looks irritated)
P1: What is the air for?
P2: So it can breathe.
P1: So what can breathe?
P2: What is inside.
P1: And what is inside?
P2: Mongoose.
P1: Mon-which?!
P2: No, mongoose.
P1: Oh! And what's on earth is mongoose?
P2: Small East Indian animal.
P1: I see... Is it slick?
P2: No, furry.
P1: Tame?
P2: Not very!
P1: Would it bite me?
P2: In a minute! (opens the box and throws a toy-mongoose at his neighbour)
P1: Oh! What do you need this animal for?!
T: Thank you, boys! You were great!
So, children, thank you ever so much for your projects! Now I see that you love your pets and like all the animals. Good of you! Just one more thing I would like you to remember. Look at the screen! Who can read it?
We should take care of those who live side by side with us.
Who can translate it? My dear children, I do want you to remember this rule!
3. Watching the cartoon "The Great Race» online.
