Тема:

   Практична: розвиток рецептивних навичок читання та робота з текстом; навчитися стисло передавати зміст прочитаного та розвиток монологічного мовлення; введення та активізація лексичного матеріалу; вдосконалення навичок аудіювання.

   Виховна: виховувати потяг до знань та  розширити світогляд учнів, надавши їм інформацію про історію виникнення найдивовижніших винаходів людства.

   Розвиваюча: розвиток операцій мислення : аналіз, синтез, порівняння та узагальнення; розвивати пам’ять, увагу, кмітливість, пізнавальний інтерес;  розширювати загальний і філологічний кругозір, знання про видатних історичних постатей.

Обладнання: комп’ютер, підручник О.Д. Карп’юк «Англійська мова» 9 клас, аудіо додаток до підручника.

T: As far as you have understood we continue discussion of famous discoveries and inventors. The text which we are going to read today is devoted to them.

1. Presenting New Vocabulary ( p.122):

T: Repeat the new vocabulary after the teacher, translate the words with the help of the pictures or your teacher’s explanations and try to memorize them. Do choral and individual repetition several times and write the words down into your vocabularies:

• flat [flæt] - плоский;
• topping [ˈtɔpɪŋ] - начинка;
• hot- air balloon [hɔt ɛə bəˈluːn] – повітряна куля;
• flip [flɪp] – підкидати, перевертати;
• coin [kɔɪn] - монета;
• weigh [weɪ] – важити.

THE FIRST FLIGHT

People made the first kites in 400 B.C. Leonardo da Vinci … made

many drawings of helicopters. In 1783 the French Montgolfier

brothers first flew in a hot-air balloon. On 14th December 1903 the Wright brothers from America were ready to fly a plane. Who would be the first?

They …flipped a coin and Wilbur won. But, he crashed to the ground. The

following day it was Orville’s turn. He …flew for 12 seconds, at 120 feet (37 metres).

1 How was the first computer different from a laptop?

I adore pizza even understanding that it is a kind of junk food.

4 Was the first flight long? No, it lasted only 12 seconds.

5 Did any of the facts surprise you? Yes, nearly all of them.
