Is The Earth in Danger?

Тема: Natural disasters. Активізація мовного і мовленнєвого матеріалу.

Мета: 1.Навчати учнів усвідомлювати функції англійської мови в процесі навчання та в суспільстві; продовжувати вивчати лексичні одиниці теми і застосовувати їх на практиці , сприймати текст на слух , давати відповіді на питання; перевірити рівень осмисленості знань з даної теми, повторити граматичну конструкцію Conditional;

2. Розвивати пам’ять, увагу, логічне мислення;навички читання, письма , мовлення; вміння використовувати набуті знання на практиці , вільно конструювати свою думку;

3. Виховувати старанність , наполегливість , самостійність; вміння поводитись під час природних катаклізмів, прагнення до вдосконалення знань з англійської мови; пізнавальний інтерес до предмета , позитивне ставлення до іноземної мови.

Обладнання : підручник, малюнки «Environment», слова на дошці, пісня «Wake me up», ролик із сайту YouTube “Save the Earth”.

1.Greetings

2. Warm-up (a song – Green day «Wake me up») у кожного на парті

T: Let’s take a look on video & try to remember the highlighted words & name the disasters you’ll see there (world, baby, life, care, home, was, more problems, 4 typhoons, do smth, time to help, do 3 R’s – reuse, reduce, recycle - повторне використання, скорочення, переробку, our beautiful clean nature); famine, typhoons, floods, global warming, air pollution). What kind of disasters did you see in the video? Using the words you’ve written down tell about what you saw.

3. Aim. T: So, how do you think, what are we going to speak about today? We carry on to speak about - (слова на дошці) fire, typhoons, earthquake, volcano eruptions, droughts, floods, famine, etc. We’ll revise the words we’ve already learnt, will read & listen & of cause we’re going to improve our knowledge on topic.

1.Read the following statements. For each of the highlighted words, think of a synonym and an antonym. Make a list of all the synonyms and antonyms as a class.

1 Working with animals is not always safe.

2 Some aspects of the work may make you feel sad.

3 A pleasant thing about working with animals is that it's very quiet.

2. Listen to a part of a radio programme about working with animals. Decide if the sentences 1-3 in Exercise 1 are true (T) or false (F). Which of the synonyms and antonyms did you hear?

3.You are going to hear another part of the same radio programme. Decide if the sentences 1-6 are true (T) or false (F).

1 The speaker describes dolphins as smart but aggressive.

2 The speaker gives examples of animals used in wars.

3 Some animals have been honoured for their bravery.

4 The speaker gives examples of animals used for the amusement of humans.

5 Horses do more kinds of work than any other animal.

6 Training guide dogs helps difficult teenagers become more friendly and confident.
