Topic: “Are you ready to cook?”

 Objectives:

  •      Practical
  •      to practice vocabulary;
  •      to practice grammar;
  •      to  develop creative competence;
  •      to  develop speech competence;
  •      to develop reading, listening  and speaking skills;
  •      discuss table manners;
  •      talk about cooking and serving food;
  •      writing a recipe.

Educational

  •      to foster students’ desire to learn English
  •      to bring up pupils as hard-working persons.

Developing

  •      to develop creative competence
  •      to develop speech competence

Type: a summarizing and systematizing lesson

Equipment: pictures on the topic “Food. Cooking verbs”, a computer, phones,  a presentation and interactive tasks.

 

Procedure

1.  Introducing the topic and the aim of the lesson.

T: - Good morning, children. I’m glad to see you.

  •          How do you feel today?
  •          What is the weather like today?

T: - Today we have an unusual lesson. At our lesson some guests are present. It’s Olha Mykolaivna Savchenko and Viktoriia Mykolaivna Lykhatska. Say hello to them.

Let's look at the screen. You can see some pictures. What do you think are we going to talk today?

T: - Yes, the topic of our lesson is “Are you ready to cook?”

T: - The aim of our lesson is to revise vocabulary and grammar material of Unit 3 and use it to complete a recipe and talk about table manners. (слайд 2)

  Warming up.

II.  Main part.

Speaking skills. Revision

T: - Let’s remember some information about table manners. Look at the pictures and tell us what table manners do you know? (слайд 4)

T: - Now your task is to play  game “Table manners”. You should read the sentences and choose  true or false they are. Join to the www.kahoot.it. (слайд 4)

Vocabulary practice.

T: - It’s time to revise electrical and non-electrical appliances that help us with cooking and eating. First we are going to do interactive task. (слайд 5)

T: - Now your task is to look at the pictures and make the sentences. Choose one kitchen item and say what it is used for.

T: - And now let’s have some rest! Look at the screen and repeat all the movements.

T: - First, look at the photo and read the list of ingredients. Try to complete the recipe COMFORT CHEESE TOASTIE with the words from the box.. [serve, grate, put, toast, mix, add, grill]. (слайд 9)

T: - Think for a few minutes and complete the list of instruction.

T: - Now listen to the audio and check your answers. (слайд 10)

Grammar and writing practice

T: - So children you know that without grammar rules you can’t make correct sentences. We talked that we can use Present Perfect for unfinished action, to show a result or period of time. Read the sentences below and explain why the Present Perfect is used there. (слайд 11)

T: - In your copybooks write down the Wh-questions to the next answers:

  •      I’ve fried the meat.
