1. Greeting. Привітання.

  T: Good morning Dear friends! How are you?  I’m very glad to see you. I hope you are fine  and full of energy and enthusiasm, and in a good mood to start our lesson.

T: Today we are having a  lesson devoted to the subject “Mass Media. Televisions”.  Many people have forgotten what the world was like before TV. But today it has become an integral part of our lives. TV now plays such an important role in so many people's lives that it is essential for us to try to decide whether it is bad or good. So our today’s topic is  “Mass Media.Television:  For and Against. A blessing or a curse”. (slide 2)

By the end of the lesson you will be able:   (Slide 3)

   You can’t learn to speak English just by sitting and listening to the other pupils. It’s better to make mistakes than to say nothing.

T: Thank you for your interview. Analyzing the results, I can say that you have a wonderful possibility to watch different channels and the most popular are NTV, Sport, MTV. On the whole most of you are well aware of the fact that too much television is harmful for you. As for favorite channels tastes differ. I hope that the article will be interesting.

T: It’s difficult to imagine our life without TV. But there are different opinions about it, it has both advantages and disadvantages. I want you to discuss this problem.

• TV is a great achievement of engineers and a very popular MASS MEDIA nowadays.
• TV helps us to get information all over the world.
• TV expands our outlook.
• We learn more about interesting things from TV.

 

• But TV doesn’t help to develop different knowledge as books can do.
• It’s more easily to watch a film, than to read a book.
• If you watch TV too much, you have no possibility to communicate with other people.
• There are many more interesting things than watching TV

 

6. Presentation of a creative project «Our tips to TELLY-VIEWERS» (Slide 30)

T: So, as we have stated TV has both positive and negative features. It can keep us informed, educate and entertain, but at the same time it can destroy our health, withdraw from reality, give some bad examples. So, TV or not TV?  I think the answer is “yes”. But we must choose thoroughly what to see and how to see. If we don’t overdo TV will help us relax and get knowledge about the world. Do you agree? A group of your classmates have prepared some very useful, to my mind, tips to TV-viewers. Have a look at them. 

 

OUR TIPS TO TELLY-VIEWERS: WATCH ONLY THOSE PROGRAMMES YOU HAVE PLANNED BEFOREHAND.    IT CAN HELP SAVE YOUR TIME DON’T WATCH THE BOX FOR MORE THAN 1 OR 2 HOURS A DAY. MORE IS HARMFUL FOR YOUR HEALTH DON’T LET THE SOUND TOO LOUD. IT’LL HURT YOUR EARS  AS WELL AS YOUR NEIGHBOURS’ PRIVACY DON’T SIT TOO CLOSE TO THE TV-SET. IT’S RUINOUS TO YOUR EYES. CHANGE YOUR POSITION WHILE WATCHING, MAKE SOME SMALL MOVEMENTS WITH YOUR FEET AND HANDS NEVER EAT DURING PROGRAMMES. YOU MAY BECOME OVERWEIGHT. SINCE COMMERCIALS ARE INEVITABLE TAKE SOME ADVANTAGE OF THEM. HAVE PHYSICAL EXERCISES OR GIVE REST TO YOUR EYES. THINK TWICE BEFORE STARTING VIEWING. PERHAPS YOU CAN FIND A  MORE USEFUL OR  EXCITING  ACTIVITY
