Christmas idioms

• All my Christmases have come together – when you have a fortunate experience or you have everything you have ever hoped for.
• Christmas came early this year – when you are extremely happy because you unexpectedly get an expensive gift or experience a lot of joy.
• Like turkeys voting for Christmas – a metaphor which means that people are not likely to accept something which is not in their interest.
• Ring in the New Year- this act marks the end of the previous year and announces the beginning of the new year, usually with a party.
• Eat, drink and be merry – enjoy yourselves with good food and drink.
• Don’t be a Scrooge! – don’t be greedy or negative around the Christmas holidays, spoiling others fun.
• Secret Santa – when members of a group are assigned a person to give a gift to, often by randomly selecting a name (common in American workplaces and big families).
• Trim the tree – to put ornaments on a Christmas tree.
• Stocking stuffer (filler) – a small gift given at Christmas time.
