-- “Hi, any news Artem?”
-- “How you doing today?”
--“How’s life?” etc.
The teacher attracts the pupils’ attention to the blackboard where (in beforehand) he has written a poem:
In Antarctica it’s snowing,
And in Mexico it’s not,
In Berlin the wind is blowing,
And in Portugal it’s hot.
The teacher asks pupils about the similarities in each line of the poem trying to lead them to the topic of the lesson:
--“How do you think what is common in each line?”
--“What’s so special about this poem?”
--“What does this poem tells us about?”
When pupils guessed that the countries are the main common thing the teacher asks them the following:
--“Have you ever been abroad?”
--“What countries have you been to?”
OK, AND NOW CAN YOU GUESS THE TOPIC OF OUR LESSON?
THET’S RIGHT, IT’S “AROUND THE WORLD”
--“Can you tell me, how can we travel around the world?”
The teacher draws a circle on a blackboard and offers kids to write their favorite mean of transport: ………….. …………..
by plane by train
…………… ……………
Meanwhile the teacher puts on the pupils’ hands little stickers with different signs which in following will correspond to 6 English speaking countries:
♥ ♦ ☺ ☼ € £
--“And where can we find all the countries?”
The teacher draws a globe on a blackboard and asks kids to remind all the POLES, sides of the earth. The North
The West The East
The South
After remembering the poles teacher asks kids to name the positions of the main continents.
--“What are the main continents in the world?”
(Asia, Africa, America, Australia, Europe, Antarctica)
--“Where are those continents?”
E.g. Antarctica is in the South Pole…
5. Reading (game);
--“So, what English speaking countries do you know?”
(United States, United Kingdom, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, Australia)
--“Look at the blackboard, can you find which flag corresponds to which country?”
-- “Can you name the capitals of these countries? Try to match them”
Canada (Ottawa)
Great Britain (London)
United States of America
(Washington)
South Africa
(Cape Town)
New Zealand
(Wellington)
Australia (Canberra)
The teacher divides pupils into 6 teams according to their pictures on the stickers.
Each team gets a short text about their country + 2 shits of paper with exercises.
Each team chooses 1 captain, 1“captain’s right hand” and 2 artists.
Teacher asks:
--“What do you know about these countries?”
All listen to the information pupils know.
--“And now let’s find out a bit more!”
Pupils have 1-2 min. to read about their country, then every team reads about their country to the others, EVERY TEAM PAYS ATTENTION TO WHAT THEY ARE READING and meanwhile they fill in the exercise shits.
