How to motivate students to tell and visualize stories ? Storytelling Method and IT Programs…

Storytelling describes the social and cultural activity of sharing stories, sometimes with improvisation, theatrics, or embellishment. Every culture has its own stories or narratives, which are shared as a means of entertainment, education, cultural preservation or instilling moral values.

Advantages of storytelling:

Help to understand new ideas
Search for similarities and differences
Create relaxing and joyful atmosphere
Improve cooperation and collaboration
Improve communicative skills
Increase creativity and critical thinking skills

How to create a story?

Set the topic and aim of the lesson – it helps to choose the plot of the story.
Developing the details of the plot and the key plot lines.
Assortment of the main characters (name, feature characteristics, appearance and so on
Invent some tricky and up-to-date variant of the story. (preliminary story creation)
Add some more metaphors and other literary resources.

Variants of plot creation:

1.Classic
Structure:main character– aim –obstacles to reach the goals and targets–coping with the difficulties and problems– results. It is suitable to motivate students, to explain some processes and phenomena, dealing with the true to life problems.

2. Confrontation with some monsters or villains
Structure: main character– aim –monster or villains encounter–resistance and victory– objective fulfilment .

3. Cinderalla story
Structure: hero– extraordinary situation- setting the problem solving situation – apparition wizard or fairy – happy end.

4. Ground-hog Day

Structure: character – aim – actions in development and return back to the cutoff point – choice of the right perform of actions – achieving goals.

5. Quest

Structure: hero – goal – variation of different locations and decision making for all locations – step by step realization of mini goals – triumph.

New interpretation revealing the relationship in a family being brought up by step mother and having step sisters.

SCRIPT:

Today we are going to tell you a story, which is very true to life and raise very important issues nowadays like relations in the family, bullying, good and evil. So, welcome to the world of new updated story about Cinderella.

This is a house of our Cinderella: Cindy Sparks by name. Here is step mother Furelly de Poorsoul. Her surname is true about your inner world. Next comes her daughter, step sister Sue de Poorsoul. She is a real blond: silly, light-minded, without natural gifts. Then comes step brother Natty de Poorsoul. His name reflects his character perfectly: naughty, a bit cruel.

Our wonderful Cindi lives in her small room under the roof, though it is really cosy, greeny and full of light. As usual teenager, she has got her dreams, friends. She looks after your mother - brown curly hair, fit body and bright mind. And she has got her sacred dream - to become a famous solo singer.

Furelly de Poorsoul loves herself very much. One day she asked the friend of their family to draw a portrait of her. He was Martin da Vinci - very talented and gifted artist.

So in a few days Steven White, famous producer of the talent show “Satisfaction” appeared in their life. And he has got a nice stylish son, very handsome guy Justin White. He even looks like Justin Timberlake.

They had a talk with Furelly and her daughter about participation in the song contest “Satisfaction” because she wants to be very popular. Though, she was very plain and a bit primitive. Cindi knows perfectly that it was her last chance, so she decided to enclose CD with her own song.

Hence, Steven managed to listen to the catching song of Cindi. It was amazing, fantasticand brilliant.

His immediate decision was to call Cindi’s step mother Furelly. He offered the girl, who performs this song, to participate in the next talent show. Of course, Furelly told him that it was her daughter, Blondy Sue, who was a brilliant singer and composer of this song.

Furelly de Poorsoul ordered her poor step daughter to perform the song on the backstage while her beloved Blondy Sue will be on the front stage, on the center of attention. Otherwise, she will become penniless without heritage from here dad, who died not so long ago. So she agrees because without money she won’t be able to pay for her education in Stanford University.

Cindi and her friend Fait makes a plan. In a week, it might be a ball in the palace. Though, it was impossible for Cindi to take part in it. She has an order from her step mother to stay with Natty, who was active, energetic and noisy.

Martin da Vinci has a sorrow to pure Cindi, so he agrees to stay with Natty instead of her. Hence, she will get a chance to sing in the ball for Justin.

So, the day comes and both Cindi and Fait have a chance to realize their plan. Certainly, Justin was there too. Cindi invites him to go out to breathe a fresh air, but in her mind was to perform a song for him and show her real voice. But time flies very fast and when she must come back home in time. Cindi lost the chance to show her face to Justin. She was really upset.

Next day Cindi records the song for Sue to participate in talent show “Satisfaction”. After the ball, Justin was impressed of the unknown girl and her voice and he was obsessed to find that girl, though he could identify hearing her voice. When Justin heard that familiar voice of fantastic girl from the ball, he came to their house and noticed Sue, who was singing brilliantly. Mom was proud of her daughter.

After performing the song, they had a talk face-to-face. His only question was why she ran away without no explanation. But Sue had no idea what she was talking about. Though, he invited her to take part in the talent show “Satisfaction”.

Lucky day has come. Blondy Sue was on the stage, performing thrilling song by her step sister. Natty knew that it was Cindi’s dream to be on the stage and it has her authentic song. Nevertheless he was naughty, he loves Cindi with all his heart, Cindi was really kind to him, anyway. His plan was to break down the music equipment. Natty managed to fulfill the plan. Furelly was angry with the situation, though, she didn’t give up, she found another solution – make an order to sing Cindi alive, but, of course, on the backstage. But at the key moment Justin noticed that Blondy Sue didn’t sing, it was Cindi, who was holding the microphone and singing brilliantly.

Blondy Sue was screaming, shouting because her plan was destroyed. Soon, Cindi appeared on the stage, the audience exploded. It was amazing performance and she was giving the first award while her step mother and step sister were crazy about the situation.
