1 Greetings: Good morning children! How are you? At this lesson we are going to speak and write about your lucky day.

2 Lead-in:

Do you remember your lucky day? What was the day? A birthday? A day with your family or friends? A trip to a funfair?

2 Main part:

1 Reading

Teacher: Now,  let’s read the story about a lucky day and put the pictures in order. Open your SB on p.97, ex. A.  Ss do the task.

Let’s check up your answers.

2 Introduction of linking words.

Teacher sticks flashcards with the words: First, then, after that, later on the board and explains that these words are called linking words and we use them when we tell about events.

Teacher: Look at the text, find and circle linking words in it.  Do we use commas after linking words?

3 Giving practice in using linking words.

Teacher hands out cards with a short text.

                                             Card 1

Last Sunday my friend Jake visited me and we spent the whole day together. We went to the Internet café. We surfed the net, watched funny videos and played online games. We went to the funfair and rode the roller coaster. We went to a fast food restaurant and met our friends there. We ordered a pizza and some ice cream. My friend and I had fun. It was a great day to remember!

 Teacher: Now, read the text and fill in linking words. Do your task in pairs. You have 5 minutes to do the task.

 Let’s answer my questions:

1 What was first?

2 What was then?

3 What did they do after that?

4 What did they do later?

Teacher: We usually put commas after linking words. Take your pencils and underline commas after linking words.

4 Writing a plan to the text.

Teacher: Now, you have to write plan to the text on the cards.

Ss write on the board:

               Plan

1 went to the internet café;

2 surfed the Net;

3 went to the funfair;

4 went to a fast food restaurant;

5 Writing a story about a lucky day.

Teacher: Children, your task is to write a story about your lucky day.

Teacher hands out cards with questions:

Card 2
