« SEASONS AND WEATHER»

Objectives:

 -  to extend pupil's knowledge about seasons and weather;

 - to activate pupils speaking habits;

 - to develop listening skills and understanding of English;

 - to develop reading activities;

 - to develop pupils writing habits and skills;

 - to exploit the motivation created by giving and receiving personal feedback.

Equipment: a laptop, a projector, a screen, pictures, songs “Weather Song For Kids: The Sun Comes Up!”, “ What’s the weather like today?”, some handouts.

PROCEDURE:

  1. Introduction
  1. Greeting

Hello, hello, how are you?

Fine, fine, fine, thank you.

Hello, hello, how are you?

Oh,oh, just so-so.

Hello, hello, how are you?

No, no, I am terrible!

  1. Warm-up

T.: Sit down and look at the window. Is it warm or cold today? Is it rainy/snowy? Do you like such weather?

(Student`s answers)

T.: Now look at the board and match the pictures and the words. (Some students go to the board and match)

T.: So, can you tell me what is the theme of our lesson? (Student`s answers). Yes, the theme of our lesson is “Seasons and weather”.

II. Main part

  1. Speaking
  • Answer the questions:
  • How many seasons are there in a year?
  • What are they?
  • What’s the weather like in spring?
  • What’s the weather like in summer?
  • What’s the weather like in autumn?
  • What’s the weather like in winter?
  • What’s your favourite season?

T.: You see different pictures. Your task is to take a strip of paper and stich the strip under the necessary picture. Then say what is the weather like in summer/ autumn/ winter/ spring?

  • Look at the pictures and put the months from the list in the correct place in the correct order.

Seasons of the year

Spring

    In spring the weather is warm and sunny. Sometimes it`s rainy. There are lots of flowers in the wood and in the gardens. March, April and May are spring months.

Summer

    In summer the weather is hot and sunny. The trees are green. Children play in the parks and swim in the rivers. June, July and August are summer months.

Autumn

     In autumn the weather is rainy, cloudy and windy. The trees are orange and brown in autumn. Put on a coat and take your umbrella. September, October and November are autumn months.

Winter
