Buckingham Palace Buckingham Palace has been the London home of the British king or queen since 1837. It is used by Queen Elizabeth II as her official residence, or place to stay. The queen and her family live in the palace for some of the year, but it is also used for important events, meetings, and receptions. Parts of the palace are open to visitors in August and September. There are 775 rooms in the palace including 52 royal bedrooms, 188 staff bedrooms, 78 bathrooms and 92 offices.

Westminster Abbey Westminster Abbey is one of the most beautiful buildings in London. It is famous for its architecture and history. Nearly all kings and queens have been crowned in the Abbey. There are many monuments of great men there. Many great English scientists lie buried there; among them Newton, Darwin and Watt. In the Poets’ Corner some of the famous English poets and writers are buried.

Madame Tussauds Madame Tussauds  is a wax museum in London; it has smaller museums in a number of other major cities. It was founded by wax sculptor Marie Tussaud in 1835. Madame Tussauds is a major tourist attraction in London, displaying the waxworks of famous and historical figures, as well as popular film and television characters played by famous actors.
