Course of events - Yellow River began to suddenly fill with meltwater, and there were also rainy months. And in just a few weeks, the water level reached critical levels. After a couple of days, the flow became so strong that even the dams could no longer resist the elements - they collapsed. Location - South China, hitting major cities such as Wuhan, Nanjing and beyond. Damage - The flood destroyed huge amounts of housing and farmland. Around 15% of the wheat and rice crops were destroyed. The flood covered an area of 83 square kilometres.
