Ireland is washed by the Atlantic Ocean (to the west) and the Irish Sea (to the east). It is situated in the northwest of Europe.

The official languages are English and Irish. The colours of the flag, from left to right, are green, white and orange. 

The capital of Ireland is Dublin. The national money is the euro. The longest river is the River Shannon.

The climate in Ireland is warm and wet.

St Patrick is the patron saint of Ireland and

Northern Ireland. St Patrick’s Day, on 17 th March, is a very important celebration in both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland with  concerts, music and dancing. Another important symbol is the shamrock, a green plant with three leaves. It is the symbol of the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. Magic creatures called leprechauns
