Vincent Willem van Gogh ( March 30, 1853, Grott-Sündert, Netherlands - July 29, 1890, Auvers-sur-Oise, France) is a Dutch post-impressionist painter whose works have had a timeless impact on twentieth-century painting.

He was a representative of post-Impressionism. Artists in this direction did not adhere only to visual impressions, but aspired to freely and generalized to convey the materiality of the world, resorted to decorative stylization.

In ten and a half years he has created more than 2100 works, including about 860 oil paintings.

Interesting fact from the life of an artist. Vincent created his famous painting "The Star Night" while staying at a psychiatric hospital in Saint-Remy-de-Provence (France).
