Materials: Audio, flashcards, sheets of paper, colored pencils, worksheets
Procedure
1. Introduce the topic (2min)

Tell pupils they are going to learn topic about different jobs. Ask if they know any. Ask What jobs do your parents do?

2. Focus on vocabulary (20min)
|

Show the flashcard with the name of the job, say it and ask pupils to repeat the word after you.

Play a flashcard game: Divide the class in two teams. Place the flashcards for the vocabulary you want to practise in a box and have a member from Team A to the front of the class. They draw a flashcard and mime actions representing each job for their team members to guess. Their team has 30 seconds to guess the word and win a point. Team B takes a turn. The team with the most points wins.

Creative task: Give each child a sheet of paper and colored pencils. They write a few sentences about which job they would most like to do and why. They illustrate their work and present it to their partner.

3. Focus on job description (5min)

Go through the flashcards again and revise the words.

Give pupils worksheets with written description of job (e.g.This person cooks food for people and works in restaurants or cafes. – Chef).Children should read the description and write the job

Read sentences and check the answers.

4. Written practice of vocabulary (8min)

Tell children the difference between the words inside and outside by pointing to and naming objects outside and asking Is it inside or outside? Repeat for inside.

Draw the chart on the board and write some words in the incorrect column, e.g. Works inside – police officer. Have the children correct you. Write the words in the correct column.

Children complete the activity in their notebooks.

Have volunteers come to the board and write the answers for the class to check.

5. Singing song and vocabulary recognition (7min)

Play the song. Ask What is it about? (different jobs)

Play the song again. Pause the song after each verse and show learners the flashcards for those jobs. Elicit or say the jobs, children repeat.

Play the song again and have the children stand up every time they hear a job.

6. Setting the homework (3min)

Ask pupils What have we learned today?

Suggest pupils creative task as homework. They should draw adult
members of their family and write who it is, what job they have, and what they do.
