Aims of the lesson:

1. Practical: to develop pupils’ speaking, reading, writing, listening skills through various creative activities; to involve the pupils in the process of English communication; to develop the pupils’ group work.
2. Educational: to widen the pupils’ outlook; to bring up pupils as hard – working persons;
3. Developing: to develop memory; to develop attention, quick reaction, interests.

 

Type: a summarizing and systematizing lesson.

 

Equipment: a blackboard; pictures on the topic “Food”; a computer, copies of the tasks.

Preliminaries. Introducing the topic and the aim of the lesson

T. Good morning, children!

P. Good morning, teacher!

 

T. Today we are going to speak about: “Food”. I think it is a very interesting and popular topic. We can’t imagine our life without food.

Today at the lesson we shall summarize our knowledge on the topic: recite poems, talk about your likes and dislikes in food, develop your listening, reading and writing skills, you will work in  groups, and do many other useful things. Let’s start.

 

Warming up

 

T. The word means

Food – things that people or animals can eat.

Poems

T. Boys and girls! What poems about food do you know?

 

 1) I like honey on my bread,

     I like salad, I like eggs.

     I drink water all day long.

     All these things make me strong.

 

 2) I like pizza

     You like cheese

     We like ice – cream

     Ice – cream, please.

 

 3) I like coffee.

         You like tea.

     I like you and

     You like me.

 

 4) Milk and bread

     For little Fred

     Tea and jam

     For brother Sam.

     But I drink orange juice

     Coke, milk, tomato juice.

T. And now children, answer my questions.

1. What products do you like eating? And don’t like eating.

2. What do you like drinking? And don’t like eating.

T. Now, children, guess the riddles about food. Who is ready to start?

 

P1. I am yellow, I am made from milk. You can eat me with bread. What is it? (cheese)

P2. It’s a fruit. It’s yellow. I drink tea with it. (lemon)

P3.It is round, with sausage, tomato and cheese on top. (pizza)

P4. It’s white and cold and sweet. All the children like it. (ice – cream)

P5. It’s red. It’s not a fruit. I like to eat it in salad and pizza. (tomato)

P6. It’s brown, but not tea. I eat it with soup. (bread)

T. Let’s have a rest. Stand up, please. Let’s repeat and do our exercises.

 If you like apples – touch your nose.

 If you like ice cream – touch your toes.

 If you like juice – clap your hands.

 If you like pizza – stamp your feet.

let’s check your homework. It was to revise the rule. Make  2 groups and divide the words into countable and uncountable.

1. What is the traditional English food for breakfast?

2. What does Mr. Robinson like to eat in the morning?

3. What do English people eat for lunch?
