Тема: Школи в Британії.

Мета:

практична: вчитися говорити про британські школи, давати їм оцінку, опрацювати нову лексику, умовний спосіб дієслова,

освітня: дізнатися про риси характерні для освітньої системи Британії, приватні школи для еліти,

розвиваюча: розвивати навички усного і писемного мовлення, тренувати мовну реакцію, розвивати пам'ять, увагу,

виховна: виховувати в учнів позитивне ставлення до навчання, толерантність до іншої культури.

Обладнання: підручник, дошка, малюнки, слова, таблиця "Умовні речення" аудіопрогравач, аудіозапис "Headway Advanced", відеопрогравач, відеозапис "British schools".

Тип уроку: комбінований.

ХІД УРОКУ

І. ПІДГОТОВКА ДО СПРИЙНЯТТЯ ІНШОМОВНОГО МОВЛЕННЯ

1. Організаційна частина:

T. Good morning, guys! 

2. Повідомлення теми та мети уроку.

T. At this lesson we're going to learn more about the system of education in Great Britain and decide for ourselves whether it's better or worse than ours. Grammar is also the integral part of our lesson, we'll continue speaking about conditional mood and practice the active vocabulary.

II. ОСНОВНА ЧАСТИНА УРОКУ

1. Актуалізація опорних знань, умінь та навичок:

T. Let's practice the sounds first to prepare for speaking. This time it's gonna be the sounds [th] and [s]

Whether the weather be fine or whether the weather be not, whether the weather be cold or whether the wheather be not, we'll weather the weather whatever the weather, whether we like it or not.

T. Before we start reading the text I want you to Practice the vocabulary to make sure you know all the words: nursery school, compulsory education, to last, to attend, core, certificate, examination, further,

b) while-reading activity:

T. Read the text "Schools in Britain"

c) post-reading activity:

T. Say if the following is true or false

1. Children in Britain start school when they are six.
2. Compulsory education is when you must go to school.
3. Children at the secondary school study 9 subjects.
4. Most schools teach French, Spanish, Ukrainian and Norwegian
5. Pupils take exams at the age of 7, 10 and 16
6. Compulsory education ends at 16.
7. Some parents send their children to private schools.
8. State education is free.
9. Only 50 % of British children attend state schools.

3. Опрацювання граматичного матеріалу:

T.  What's your favourite activity, guys? What? You're supposed to say grammar!

Now it's grammar time and we'll repeat the usage of conditionals, the 1st conditional to be exact.

What are the conditionals?

Pupil 1: Conditionals are two parts sentences which are connected with the word "if". With all conditionals, when we start the sentence with "if", we must use a comma.. When "if" is in the middle of the sentence, we don't use a comma.

T. When do we use 1st Conditional?

Pupil 2: We use the 1st Conditional to express the strong possibility that something will happen in the future. E.g. If you leave now, you will catch the bus. If you steal something, you will go to jail.

T. Let's practice it, do ex. 1-2 on p. 40-41

V. ЗАКРІПЛЕННЯ ВИВЧЕНОГО МАТЕРІАЛУ:

1. Практика письма:

T. Put the words in the correct order to make 1st conditionals ex. 5 on p. 41

Correct the mistakes in the sentences in ex. 4 on p. 41

2. Практика аудіювання:

T. Now we're going to listen to the audiofile telling of the so-called independent schools. These schools are in fact private schools. Would you like to study at the private schools? Why?

Pupil 1: As for me I would like to go to a private school, I think the quality of teaching is better there, because the teachers care more about teaching than about their daily bread.

Pupil 2: To my mind it's not so great to pay money for what you can get for free, I mean the school education.

Pupil 3: I think studying at the private school has positive and negative sides. On one hand private schools have more possibilities for studying. On the other hand such schools accept everyone who can pay and that's not so nice.

1. Домашнє завдання: вправа 6 ст. 41.

2. Підведення підсумків уроку. Т: You've done a good job today and I hope you've got a general idea of the British schooling and may share your views just in case. What do you think of it?

Pupil 1: British school system is different from ours because children start school earlier and leave it later.

Pupil 2: It's better to attend the private school to have more facilities for studies. Besides, many public figures went to the independent schools for example, Winston Churchill.
