Зразки вправ, вміщенні в посібнику, допоможуть учням розширити словниковий запас, вдосконалити комунікативні вміння, вдосконалити активний і пасивний лексичний мінімум, щоб учні могли  використовувати його для вираження своїх думок і розуміти думки інших людей в усній та письмовій формі. Вступ

В світі існує безліч країн, а мов, якими розмовляють їх жителі ще більше. Тому міжнародні мови стирають бар’єр у спілкуванні різних народів, не залежно від національності та від місця проживання. Однією з міжнародних мов є англійська. В цілому  політичне, економічне, соціальне та спортивне життя світу “протікає”  англійською мовою. Олімпійські ігри та будь-які спортивні змагання між країнами  вибрали офіційну мову спілкування саме англійську. Будь-яка освічена людина  просто зобов’язана володіти англійською мовою, бо вона є ключем до подальшої самоосвіти та самовдосконалення.

Вправи залишаються головним засобом навчання на будь-якому етапі оволодіння іноземною мовою. У вправі завжди є мета. Зазвичай виділяють вправи для засвоєння матеріалу і для його використання в усній мові. У навчанні важливу роль грає тренування

Лексика є одним із найважливіших аспектів вивчення іноземної мови. Об'єм лексики, що вводиться, поступово збільшується і засвоєння нових слів нерідко стає нудним і тому важким зайняттям для дитини.

Український методист Бухбиндер В.А. акцентує увагу на те, що знання іноземної мови асоціюється зі знанням лексичних одиниць , в той час як володіння мовою- з лексичними навичками, які саме й забезпечують функціонування лексики у спілкуванні. Отже лексичні навички слід розглядати як найважливіший і невід’ємний компонент змісту навчання іноземної мови, а їх формування саме і є метою навчання лексичного матеріалу. Тому на уроках я намагаюся сформувати у учнів активний та пасивний лексичний мінімум, щоб учні могли  використовувати його для вираження своїх думок і розуміти думки інших людей в усній та письмовій формі.

   При вивченні лексичного матеріалу виділяють два етапи:

·      етап ознайомлення учнів з новими лексичними одиницями - семантизація,

·      етап автоматизації дій учнів з новими  лексичними одиницями

Система лексических вправ – процес вивчення  лексики. При ознайомленні учнів з новими лексичними одиницями- семантизацію можна поділити на дві групи : перекладні та неперекладні.   Пред’явлення нової лексики  можливе в окремих ситуаціях, в окремих реченнях, в процесі читання текста та прослуховування  тексту.

Вправи, що їх використовують на уроках іноземних мов можна умовно розділити на підготовчі та мовленнєві. Підготовчі вправи передбачають засвоєння мовного матеріалу у вигляді комунікативних одиниць, словосполучень, граматичної форми слова, для розвитку орфоепічних та вимовних навичок і спрямовані на відпрацювання матеріалу, який використовується у мовленнєвих вправах. Мовленнєві вправи передбачають практичне відпрацювання у спеціально створеній навчальній іншомовній ситуації попередньо засвоєного лінгвістичного (мовного) матеріалу. З точки зору комунікативності у навчанні іноземних мов методисти розділяють іншомовні вправи на: некомунікативні, умовнокомунікативні, комунікативні.

За даними приблизно 80% термінів в галузі фізичної культури і спорту є запозиченими, 30% українські, 42% запозичень – англійські, 8% - інші мови. Однак вживання цих термінів має бути регламентованим, бо можуть ускладнити сприйняття інформації.

 Тому актуальність роботи полягає в тому , щоб підвищити рівень знань учнів у галузі спортивної термінології, бути компетентними у використанні англомовної баскетбольної лексики, підвищити ефективність розуміння текстів, шляхом виконання лексичних вправ.

Метою роботи було дослідити та висвітлити характерні вправи спрямовані на засвоєння нових лексичних одиниць, та продукувати отримані знання в усному мовленні .

Об’єктом дослідження є баскетбольна термінологія англійської мови, як специфічної підсистеми мови спорту, предметом є термінологічні одиниці.

Ці матеріали доцільно використовувати , як доповнення до теми “Спорт” на уроках англійської мови на різних етапах уроку та факультативних заняттях.

Basketball

What is the most popular sport in the world? Most people would probably say soccer, because of the many millions who play it and the even larger number who watch it on television. There are some, however, who say the correct answer is basketball – not because of its TV audience, which is certainly smaller than that for soccer, but because the number of people who regularly play the game might be higher (at least 300 million, according to most estimates).

In China, for example, which has a population of 1.3 billion, more people play basketball than soccer, and it is becoming more popular all the time. Basketball has existed for less time than some of the world’s other major sports. It was invented in the early 1890s by a Canadian, James Naismith, working at a college in the state of Massachusetts in the United States. Wanting to create a game that could be played indoors during the long winters but would also be active enough to keep people in shape, he had the idea of two teams of players trying to throw a ball into a basket that was above their heads.

Early basketball looked different from the game today: for example, the basket didn’t have a hole in the bottom, so every time a player threw the ball in, someone had to go up to get it out again! Another difference is dribbling, which is when a player in modern basketball bounces the ball off the floor while moving across the court: it didn’t exist in early basketball because the balls didn’t bounce well enough. One thing that hasn’t changed, though, is the height of the baskets: James Naismith put the first one 10 feet (3.05 meters) off the floor, and that’s where they’ve stayed.

The biggest international TV audiences in modern basketball are for games in the National Basketball Association (NBA) in North America, a league of 30 teams (29 from the United States and one from Canada), including famous names such as the Chicago Bulls, Boston Celtics, and Los Angeles Lakers. Most of the players in the NBA are American, but there are also some foreign stars such as Yao Ming from China and Dirk Nowitzki from Germany.

The United States has usually been the strongest team in international basketball competitions. In the last Olympic Games, in Beijing in 2008, the US men’s and women’s teams both won gold medals – the men beat Spain in the final, and the women beat Australia.

He’s two meters tall, wears size 48 shoes and weighs 98 kilos. That’s Michael Jordan, one of the greatest players the National Basketball Association (NBA) has ever had.  For years, ‘MJ’ was basketball’s king, but in January 1999 his amazing career as a player ended. ‘King Michael’ stepped back.

Michael Jordan joined the Chicago Bulls in 1984; in the same year he won a gold medal with the US team at the Olympic Games. He had the highest scores in the NBA for 7 years. With MJ, the Bulls won the NBA championship every year between 1992 and 1997 – that’s an amazing 5 championships in a row!!  He also played for the great American basketball team at the Olympic Games of 1992 – the ‘Dream Team’ – and won his second Olympic gold medal.

The NBA named Michael Jordan the ‘Most Valuable Player of the Year’ many times. People see him as the ‘Most Valuable Player of All Time’. But already there are other great players on the courts. So, who will replace the King, now that MJ has gone?

Will it be LeBron James, the 2.03-metre, 113-kilo forward of the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Miami Heat ? LeBron has had some fantastic scores in his career, and he won a gold medal with the US team at the 2008 Olympics. Also, the NBA has named him ‘Most Valuable Player’ twice and he has been in the ‘All-NBA selection’ every season since 2005. Will LeBron James become the next king of the court?
