Two friends
Once upon a time there lived two mice. One of them lived in a big city. Her name was Minnie. Minnie’s friend lived in a village. Her name was Maggie. One day Maggie decided to visit Minnie. She went to the city by train. She saw many beautiful houses, shops, parks and squares, there were a lot of buses, cars, trams and trolley-buses in the streets. She got to Minnie’s house by bus. Maggie was glad to see her friend. “Do you like to live in the city?” Maggie asked Minnie. Minnie said, “Oh, of course, I like the city. There is a lot of to eat corn and cheese but there’s a big black cat in the Kitchen in the house. Then Maggie had an idea, “Let’s buy a TV-set for the cat. He likes to watch TV”. Minnie liked the idea. They went to the shop and bought a TV-set. Every day the cat sat down to watch TV and the mice came to the kitchen to eat corn and cheese.
The Weather in England
The English have a lot of proverbs about their weather. For example, they say “Other countries have a climate, in England we have weather”. It happens because the weather changes more often than in other countries, it is completely unforeseen. The climate is unsteady. But the weather unites people as it is always a reason to start a conversation.
The climate is influenced by the Gulf Stream. The weather changes so frequently that it is difficult to forecast. The English laugh at weather forecasts. The weather in spring is generally mild and lovely thanks to different flowers. But it is the driest season. Summer is the hottest season in England. The sun is hot, the days are long, and the nights are short and warm. Rainfalls happen mostly in the mountains.
As for autumn it isn't so nice. It is the foggiest season. There are traffic problems because of misty days and smog. Smogs usually bore English people in autumn and winter. In winter in England they can hardly forecast their weather. Sometimes it rains and sometimes it snows. In England it isn't so cold in winter as in other countries.
